4.) No. When you rest in the over world, it will automatically move to your next shift. You can spend influence in the Tavern to move to the next shift for 100. It will get more expensive if you do it multiple times before resting.

6.) Just the one Tavern will be more than profitable.
7.) You won't be attacked as such, but there are events after resting that can take away your prestige or money.
8.) You don't need to buy materials. Everything in the Tavern is self contained within it. So you'll just be spending your Tavern currency to buy whatever upgrades you need. If you're talking about ingredients, see 1.
