I enjoyed the Pits. If you like the arena fights in the game, you will probably have fun. Some of the rewards are meh when matched with the legendary goodies you get from tombs and the regular arenas, but some are worthwhile (the first axe you can win comes to mind).

If you love the game, and like tactical puzzles, that seems like a fair price for the dlc. And, while the overall rewards are disappointing for the Pitts, there are several armor layers and a couple armor helms that are some of the best in the game. "Worth it" is such a subjective idea. It definitely adds some fun stuff to the game. If you get it, just realize that the brutal mode of most PItt battles are designed to be cleared at, or near, max level. So unless you have an end-game company already running around, the Pitts are designed to be visited twice, once when you first come across them, and then again after you've cleared almost everything else.

Thanks for the helpful advice everyone.i bought the mercenary edition this morning as I usually only do one full run through a game if I am honest and I just wanted to make sure gameplay wise,it added to the game before I bought it.hopefully I will get a chance to restart the game this weekend as the hours I already have played were just to learn the mechanics and check it out.

What do you mean "tactical puzzles"? So the Pits isn't just about killing enemy combatants?

Each pit stage has a modifier and is full of traps, like one stage causes enemies to be wearing the same equipment as your characters (which is easily abusable), and one stage causes all damage done to be 1 and reduces max health to 3-9 based on armor type. The objective is always (AFAIK) to just kill the enemies, like an arena fight, you just have extra modifiers to be aware of and want to avoid ending your turn on certain tiles unless you think you can finish the fight that turn.

It's very similar to the existing arena fights in the game, except it's just one fight at a time and with sometimes more game-changing mechanics.

Hey Lazarus,
Good replies.
-Its definitely the least good of the 3 DLCs, by far. So it's the only one that is potentially skippable; the other two are must-buys. I'm actually surprised that the Fame rewards are as underwhelming as they are, given that the other two DLCs gave much reward compared to this.
-I really love this game, so for me it was worth it, on sale. I don't regret buying it!
-Pits are easy sources of "colossal paw", an ingredient for some mid-game armor later recipes. Sold by fence vendor, AND restocks. Much easier than farming high level ghost packs.
-Fame rewards are not great, but you can earn 3 recipes for oils that increase damage against enemies with ailments. Not bad. Some of the weapons you earn are more powerful than the base crafted ones. Not bad either.
