But every rest there is a chance for an event in the tavern but even if there is it's just:
Hey, hunters want to stay after a failed hunt, this means a more "peasantry" clientele, is it okay?
-yes (next rest potential of a bonus from grateful hunters)
-no (nothing happens)
Also, the tavern provides your squad with a signature dish every rest, and the money from the tavern can cover the costs of paying your mercenaries. Which makes the management of the squad as a whole much easier. You don't have to constantly look for food and work to pay your mercenaries.

Will I still make decent money if I only check every 5 rests?
no, you really need to do once a day.
Set some menu and drink and you can just forget about it.
I mostly use it to store some companion or animal I didn't want to bring with me tho.
Would be more interesting with random combat events and property damage.
