How much micromanagement do I have to do with the Tavern DLC?
Do I have to do something with the tavern every rest? I am thinking of getting the DLC, but doing more micromanagement is really worrisome.

You don't HAVE to do anything. The tavern is a way to make money and get new recipes. If you don't want to deal with that, don't. your game will go on.

Just before bed. And you have some events with tavern, which are really funny.

and usually it's okay to only check it every 5 or so rests, since food prices fluctuate,
But every rest there is a chance for an event in the tavern but even if there is it's just:
Hey, hunters want to stay after a failed hunt, this means a more "peasantry" clientele, is it okay?
-yes (next rest potential of a bonus from grateful hunters)
-no (nothing happens)

It's practically a DLC that plays itself. You entered for the first time, appointed a tavern manager, cooks and brewers, set up tables and that's it. From time to time, you log in, buy more tables and interiors and collect the proceeds. Nothing complicated, very convenient. It's also a hub for unnecessary companions.

Also, the tavern provides your squad with a signature dish every rest, and the money from the tavern can cover the costs of paying your mercenaries. Which makes the management of the squad as a whole much easier. You don't have to constantly look for food and work to pay your mercenaries.

Buy it.

Will I still make decent money if I only check every 5 rests?

no, you really need to do once a day.

Nothing, just hire your first wave of employee, place a couple of tables.
Set some menu and drink and you can just forget about it.

I mostly use it to store some companion or animal I didn't want to bring with me tho.

It is nearly zero micromanagement and free money. As strange as it is, you can never lose money.

Would be more interesting with random combat events and property damage.
