Does crit hit over 100 percent help at all?
It obviously doesn't help crit hit chance but what about crit hit damage?

Crit Hit increases Crit Hit chance and Crit hit damage by 1% per point.
So increasing Crit Hit over 100% adds crit hit damage.

Through Aptitude points specifically, you mean.

Just to add onto this, getting more Critical Hit from gear or other sources when you're already at 100% chance to crit will not help you at all. It's just choosing Crit Hit with Aptitude Points that specifically increases crit chance and crit damage, and so is still a very strong choice.

Yea you're right. Thanks for the clarification.
Game uses Critical Hit (Stat), which increases Critical Hit (chance) and Critical Damage, but items that increase Critical Hit actually only increase Critical Hit chance.

You need to calculate perfectly. About 100% critical strike chance can be obtained without investing points into the attribute. 3 brooches of 15% critical strike from Belerion, 25% from the path of chaos, the bloodthirstiness trait and the craftsman profession. And dexterity also adds a critical strike chance.

NOT investing points in the attribute means your crits will do less damage though.

Not by much.
The lion share of mid-late game attribute come from your gears.
Those tiny +2 points of dex/str per level become real meaningless then and are no match for the +2% crit rate and crit dam or more movement.

100% Critical Hit means both crit chance and damage. Further, the attribute gives only damage and it is +/- parity with agility and strength. 2% critical damage is approximately equal to 2 points in strength (which also gives critical damage). For example, you have 150 strength and 100% critical hit power, you invest 2 points in strength or 2% critical damage, the damage is approximately the same.
But it makes sense to develop only movement. And perhaps will (I did not invest points in it, so it is debatable) so that enemies run away faster and finish these long fights faster.

"100% Critical Hit means both crit chance and damage"

not sure you are correct about that. the two are different stats. for example, I have a unit that has 100% chance to crit hit in combat, but it definitely lists the crit DAMAGE as 70%.

Probably it's translation difficulties. English is not my native language. I meant attribute/characteristic - critical hit, which includes critical chance and critical damage.

As stated above. The english translation uses "Critical Hit" for two things:
1) Attribute/Stat
2) Critical Chance
If you mouse over the Critical Hit stat for more detail, it shows Critical Hit and Critical Damage.

Critical Hit (chance) is increased by Dexterity, Wisdom and Critical Hit (Attribute)
Critical Damage is increased by Strength and Critical Hit (Attribute)

For example:
- My Fighter has 38% Critcal Hit and 100% Critical Damage
- My Executioner has 100% Critical Hit and 152% Critical Damage
- My Ranger has 112% Critical Hit and 92% Critical Damage

So no 100% Critical Hit does not mean both hit chance and damage.
