- You share a screen and can't run around independant of each other.
- You don't have your own party, it's just splitted.
- You need to stay on the same screen as your friend.
- You have a splitted inventary but you need to share it anyway
- You can't fight your own battles, your friend will always be teleported to your battles.
There is no benefit to play in COOP, it's almost like you would share your screen but without you have to by the game twice.
I played entirely coop through the game with two others. We each controlled three mercs for a total party of nine. We each had some camp slaves to manage as well. It worked perfectly fine.
Pros:
Inventory is split. What a godsend to have your cook hold all the food and your alchemist hold all the reagants (different people in our group). Makes the camp chest way less cluttered.
You only have to manage a few mercs. concentrating on 3 was great rather than 9. Pluss I didn't have to cook or make poitions, splitting up the mundane tasks is a great way to play.
Camraderie: That's about it really. The game plays exactly like single player. You move the same way, fight the same way etc which means you have to communicate well with whom you are playing. Randos likely won't make a good game but friends will.
Cons:
You really have to communicate as anyone can move in battle and you have to move together in the world. Don't play with uptight or high strung people. Again, only with good friends.
Overall it's good.
Have had zero connection issues, have had occasional "im trapped in my inventory because someone tried to click something while I was doing something else" issue but that is usually fixed by backing up a little or clicking something else
Some people complain because you have to play/travel together but imo thats kind of the point of playing with people. You must communicate and work together because you are multiple parts of a whole but I would give it a solid
9/10 for COOP, loses 1 point because there is no "follow the leader" mode to allow one person to be the decision maker if you are playing with friends that don't like to think
