Ship control in Belerion.;)))))
Thanks for the humor. It was very funny, flying at cosmic speed on a sailboat and crashing into the rocks like a football into a goal post. The ship has no anchor. And no gearbox. The crew watches in horror as the rocks of the island, planet and galaxy fly past them.:steammocking:

Right click to lower sails.
Shift to row (slow speed) when sails are down.

Thanks for the tip. ;) I'm a bad sailor, I've never hit a target with a ballista and I've rammed an island again. It's better for me to sail on a broken ship, at low speed. I have no one to run away from anyway. ;)

No, ship combat is not something that brings pleasure. The speeds are too high. It was necessary to either limit the speed of the ships so that there was time to shoot several times before boarding. Or remove the aiming mechanics. Click on the ballista, then click on the enemy, and then only tack at sea, and the ship itself shoots until the enemy approaches for boarding, or tries to escape.

Honest question: why were you trying to shoot a ship more than once? Can you stack the penalties from both ballista types? I've never tried that, since I find the fire more annoying than helpful. Or can you actually sink a ship if you hit enough? I've also never tried that.

I just always plink a ship once to debuff the enemy crew and then engage, which I thought was the intention of the system. Maybe I was missing something though.

I tested ship combat. I have never used ship combat. I recently got a ballista and some speed-improvements. My ship started moving too fast and I realized that something was wrong with me as the developers intended. Usually I just approached the enemy and without a ballista took them on board. The ballista can (probably) be used to apply 2 debuffs, but the controls are very inconvenient.

Yes the ballista can apply 2 debuffs, fragile and burning, based on the arrow types. hitting a target multiple times with the same arrow type does nothing.
(Hitting a target 10 times gives an achievement I think.)
