Pits is quite difficult to master (do all 50 fame points), the mechanics can sometimes be brutal. I usually do that last. Pits is easier once you've acquired Knowledge camp artifact that grants Inspiration to adjacent Mercs. Inspiration gives them double movement for Turn 1. This makes a huge difference in Pits.
Thanks. But doesn't to normal version of Pits for lower level? Or am I mistaken somehow?
And how do you get the camp artifact that grants inspiration to adjacent mercenaries? Please tell me! ;)
Camp Atrifacts are part of the Wisdom Path. Level 8 and higher you'll gain "Chronicler Erius’ Journal 1-5". After completing it and gaining the next path level, you'll get the next one.
Artifacts found in order and location:
- Vertruse Crystal Skull Offensive Elation (+25% damage)
- Tiltren Cradle of Souls Satiated (0 food)
- Arthes Astral Instument Inspiration (double movement)
- Ludern Musical Automaton Defensive Elation (+35% damage reduction)
- Drombach Solar System Inspired (+5 Willpower)
So once you have the Path of Wisdom level 10 and completed the previous 2, you can find it in Arthes.
Edit: Camp Artifacts adjacency works on the diagonals, so you have 8 usable spots around each.
Adjacency also work on everyone assigned to a tent and hitching post.
Thanks so much for the list!
I think I've got 2 more path levels left then, I guess.
Also, do you have a list of other regional game-changing (or nearly-game-changing) items? For instance, I've farmed the hell out of Tiltren for the 2H sword Claret and 2H axe Mutiny. Also, I picked up Brave Oil recipe (I forgot where).
Unique weapons

Keys if you are missing some
https://wartales.fandom.com/wiki/Keys
And the last fight in the Arena of Legends (Mount Altis) when you reach Glory Path level 12 gives you a gamebreaking belt item. (allows you to use 2 base actions on the first turn you use a base action.)
Yeah, I did pick up Brave Oil last night.
What are the keys for? I picked up a few, but I don't think I've used them yet.
OMG, I can't wait for that belt item - but path level 12 is so far away! ;)
Oh, forgot to add. But a lot of the weapons seem mediocre - are there any that seem particularly better than others (for instance, the way Claret and Mutiny seem to be) that I should not forget to pick up?
1 Handed Axes: Traitor's Axe (once you have 100% ludern and found the oil recipe in the tomb)
2 handed Axes: Mutiny and Enlils Great Axe
Bows: Early-Mid game Liberator can be nice. My archer always gets 2nd weapon on lvl 10. Later I use Pirate's Bow and once I have 100% crit War Bow.
Daggers: Kruppe's Saex has very high damage (maybe highest in game), Behedite's Kris is great to finish off isolated enemies and Elderguard is great for a poison build.
1 handed Maces: Erkeshet's Mace. In Belerion you'll find an "armor layer" with 10 str
2 handed Maces: Dagan's Hammer. I mean 3 hits at 35% in a wide arc (double the normal area)
Spears: Crocsting early game, Liberator for Helberdier late game (brave oil, AoE attach, taunt the survivor or use Wrath, free auto attack to disengage, repeat. Kills up to 9 people)
1 handed Swords: Early game Fervour +40% damage against enemies with no guard, when a Swordsman reduces guard to 0. Later Strongblade hits 3 times (Inquisition shield inflicts burning, legion stamp inflicts bleed on hit. Bleeding oil 50% to remove 25% max hp on hit)

Before I forget a list of what all helmet abilities are, sorted by faction.
https://wartales.fandom.com/wiki/Stamps
(Yes, I am shamelessly referencing pages I created or updated. It took a lot of time to gather all the info, so I'll share it xD)
----
There's the first Item you get from the Trading Path, which generates knowledge. Try equipping it on a Master Bard and each song generates 1-2 knowledge points.
----
There's also Legendary Belt/Backpack items from Sepulchres (once you have explored all/majority of the tombs and gathered their runes)
https://wartales.fandom.com/wiki/Codex
In Grinmeer Behedite's Compass allows your Captain and Lieutenants to max any profession within 6-7 rests when assigned to the strategy table.
Usually each Tomb of the Ancients has chests containing a codex, that requires a key found inside the tomb to open.
Outside of tombs they are used to open chests, trapdoors, sometimes cages etc... Basic stuff to complete each region's points of interest (e.g. the Trapdoor found at Tiltren Lumbermill).
Thank you so much for all - this is an amazing treasure trove of information! And have no shame; if it weren't for people like you making so much information available, then "slow" folks like me would never be able to complete RPGs!
I will farm the listed weapons relevant to my builds till my mind goes numb! ;) (I have been farming that throwing dagger in Tiltren - along with Mutinty - but damn, RNG is a female canine!)
Also, is Daggan's Hammer worth making a Brawler? On the one hand, my 2 AoE damage slots are already firmly occupied by a Swordsmaster ("Aragorn") and an Executioner ("Gimli") - and I'be loath to give up either for obvious role-playing reasons. But on the other hand, I have heard the hammer praised a lot - especially for early and mid-game play.
Finally, I am not sure what you are referring to in terms of "the first item you get from the Trading Path, which generates knowledge." What type of an item is it? I may have vendored it by mistake? ;(
Executioner AoE is one of the most powerful lvl 8+.
It's a backpack item you get for the first trade route. (not trading post, but trade route between two trading posts)
Indeed, an Executioner in my party is wrecking things - even without a named weapon.
Thanks - will look for that packpack item. I have yet to open a trade route. Does that require achieving a certain path level as well?
By the way, do quests spawning bosses with named items only available after you finish a certain number of unique region quest-line? Because I've done gazillion quests in Vertruse, and nothing is dropping...
Unique vanquish missions (rare unique weapon drops) appear on random. Vertruse has 2 Inns so that makes it easier, you can accept and cancel all/most of the quests in each inn to cycle them.
They are always the same unique quests, but when they appear is by chance.
Yes, when you say "random," it indeed seems truly random. To give you an example, I had literally two upgradeable drop missions in Tiltren after days of farming. In an hour or so of farming in Vertruse this morning, however, I obtained four. FOUR in an HOUR and TWO in DAYS! I am wondering if this is too much random. At any rate, I do finally have Mutiny, and it's a game-changing tool - the first I have yet encountered in this game.
Also, I really regret that I didn't go to Vertruse earlier (well, I really wanted Mutiny and Claret). I am no longer having cash problems - I suspect due to the fact that I can get quests twice as fast, due to two quest inns being right next to each other.
