Some thoughts on Extreme + Ironman mode

Hey guys, a few days ago I decided to start a new save, but this time I decided to play on Ironman ( which I never tried before, that one which if all your companions die, its game over ) and to make things even more challenging I am playing on Extreme difficulty and Region locked

I am already with companions on level 8 and 9, currently finished Tiltren,Arthes and Vertrusem going to Ludern. What I like the most about the Ironman and Extreme combo is that you really feel that any little mistake will kill your companions, so you have to be very careful, for example: In one fight against the ghost pack,the companions pretty much were already winning the battle ( There was only one Ghost bear standing still with only 50 hp), but my lvl 9 Swordman as attacked and got so scared that he flew away. On lower difficulties, he would leave the battle and rejoin the troop after that.However, on extreme, he is killed if he does that.


Also, on the world itself things also become more challenging. If you are going to search for Iron in the mines, make sure to always hit that marker on the right time, otherwise your companion will get injured. The same applies for the lockpicking.

This mode was a nice addition to the game, I highly recommend this to everyone who plays Wartales

I agree 100%. I'm doing the same thing, but I'm a little bit further. I have noticed from Expert the game boosts the level for each region with some fights. It seems you will always find some fights at +2 or +3 . I have lost 4 fighters so far. I have a little graveyard going.

Region locked is key. Each time you start a new region you have to be a bit more careful.

Great fun! Well done on the part of the developers and I highly recommend.

I had a lvl 9 tank which I got a little to far out and isolated. It was a lvl 10 fight, and the AI really focused on him. He had WP enough to survive his first kill but he had bleeding. I could not get a character to him in time to heal him. He died. My recruit was a lvl 8. lol

I highly recommend Preserving Troops(Strategy Table) on Extreme node.

Extreme: Willpower 15 and above goes into the dying state. Any damage will perma kill you.

Not Extreme: Willpower under 15 goes into the dying state. Any damage will perma kill you. Willpower 15 and above prevents you from going into the dying state.

It has been this way since release.

Oh, that's lame, even more easy of a game mode that I thought. I played through with no points into WP, still easy mode.

The thread is about Extreme Region Locked.

The game is setup so even in Extreme you can always grind until every fight is easy. lol So in Extreme Region Locked the northern fights in Vertruse are lvl 8. All you have to do is grind in easy mode until you reach lvl 7 or 8. Sure.

That's what I just explained. Leveling up makes everything easy. Leveling up makes everyone feel good.

15 Willpower is required to get put into to the dying state, otherwise you just die. There is no remaining at 1 HP stage

Iron-man mode is risky to play because there has always been game breaking bugs every time a major patch comes out.

Just do a soft iron man with limited save mode unless you don't mind ending your run because of a new patch.

I have not experienced any game breaking bugs. Can you give an example? Do you mean the save file becomes corrupted?

This game seems remarkably bug free. Nothing has happened in my ironman run where I could not recover from and continue playing with no problem.
