Yes. Nice, but pricey. I find that its too expensive in the early game when I really need specific skills. By late game, when I can afford it, I already have my ideal mercs selected and trained up. Might be useful if you are trying to make a large party of particular skill sets and combos, but I'm all about the "start small-stay small" school of Wartales. No hour long battles for me! Would be an interesting mod to make this available right from the start and cost like 10 krowns to post in a tavern,. Then you could really pick and choose your core troops, skills, flaws, etc and make your whole party as you envision it.

I prefer recruiting prisoners.

Pros ...
1) Much cheaper
2) f you play region locked you can capture prisoners at a higher level then you get through recruitment.
3) Sometimes you can get some cool Skills

Cons ...
1) They come with odd skill sets sometimes, but this can be mitigated using Skill Books.

If you fill every slot the price is 4500g if I remember correctly. Adding a negative trait to your recruitment actually increases the price by a fair margin. It's wild.

While this feature is pretty nice, i cannot for the life of me think of a valid reason why it is EXPENSIVE as it is!

In the early game, same as before, stupid expensive.
Late game, irrelevant because i already have my favorite mercenaries that i invested time and money on.

the 'Vacancy Notices' needs to drastically reduce the price, like, same as recruiting random people and maybe a bit more expensive, with the exception that negative traits reduce costs.
Really expensive, i used it only once to replace a dead swordsman who perished during Drombach questline. And then you aslo have to wait for a few days for hireling to appear.

dang, when many people said "expensive" I didn't expect it to be this expensive, only found this feature but never tried it.

I think I undersold it. I'm pretty sure it's 5k with every field filled, 4500g for one without a negative trait. Weird that adding a negative trait costs you more money instead of the opposite.

It is not adding a negative trait. That's EXCLUDING a chance of rolling a specific negative trait.

That seems even worse to me, lol. At least if you choose one you know what you're getting.

I was excited about this idea to begin with, but then I realised that the recruit you get given most of the time (maybe every time?) ends up with Willpower at 10, so you have to spend/waste 3 levels getting them up to the safety of WP 15 (which can be very useful on extreme difficulty). Its just not worth it at all. A total waste of knowledge points and coin as far as I'm concerned.

Personally, I prefer to find recruits that start with 15 WP in taverns the standard way. With just a little bit of patience you can get a far better merc with better stats, a good bonus and at a far lower price.

Yeah, I don't understand why some games bother adding quality of life options that are locked behind an alternate inconvenient grind. Seems like deranged logic.

WTF?! How do you unlock this feature?

It's a tier 3 knowledge unlock. Once you earn a total of 20 knowledge points you should see it on the list, and it costs 3 points to unlock. It's pretty useful for when you have a specific team in mind and the last character you want isn't showing up.

Thanks! I guess I will have to save up Knowledge points!
