The most interesting aspect of the tavern is that each rest, you can get some money (careful as the "exchange rate" changes after each click [you can click multiple times per rest] = 100 tavern coins for 100 gold with the first click, 100 for 96, 100 for 80 etc.). The ration is stabilized by the time of the next rest (provided it is not less than 80/100).
So consider the tavern at end game as a skills purchase tool = 360g per skill, 3-4 clicks = 360. And also it saved me during cash shortages in early game.

For Belerion dlc you can wait till level 10 but one more time it is a great addition to your gameplay and i really advise it too.
