When did they nerf the Riposte-Swordsmen?
Haven't played in a while. Now my Swordsmen can only Riposte in their 1st engagement/turn. Uff. When did they change that? It sucks a little bc they were great fun but main point here is: It's bugged. They still get Riposte when they are engaged during enemy turn and sometimes they get Riposte randomly when you attack an enemy with another merc. Anyone else noticed that and can I please have my swordsmen back?

It always been the same
Another perk is if you got a Pike-man with riposte or Pilum
Or ranger with smoke bomb, engage, make a riposte then smoke bomb and engage again to get a riposte
Or pikeman with pushback atack
So basically youll get 1 riposte every time you engage thats it

Before you could chain multiple ripostes with a swordsman by just engaging-disengaging-reengaging the enemy, now you only get 1 per turn.
No idea what Raider wanted to say here... but WanderingF is correct: you used to have a Riposte w Swordsmen on EVERY engage. I exploited it heavily and now notice that it doesn't work correctly after rework: It sometimes spams Riposte when it shouldn't. No one noticed that?
Just now I had a Lieutenant give a Tactical Order and my Swordsman - who was engaged on the other side of the map - totally unrelated gained Riposte. Stuff like this happens all the time now...
There is a shield that gives counterattacks - and it stacks with Riposte. Brute tanks can now do monstrous amounts of counterattacks! :6face:

I recently returned and discovered the same thing. Kinda disappointed, but I get it. Even tho you had to burn valor and hp to keep it going it did get out of hand at times.

I am using that mechanic all the time .... did you choose the wrong class? also there is the alazarian shield which has counter-attack ...

Swordfighter's 2nd row (lvl5, I believe) ability used to be to apply Riposte any time they become engaged, now it only applies it the first time on their turn.

I just put the valarous oil on the swords so I never even used valour for it - in fact with a Tactictal Order by a Lieutenant on the swordsman you would create a lot of VPs by engaging-disengaging. It was op I get it, yet it was the one really good game mechanic they had going for them.

on level 10 you can learn "defensive riposte" I also use the alazarian shield (I am not sure if this shield also can drop on higher levels, mine was lvl 8 ... but I used a mod to craft/upgrade mine ... "a la carte" on nex.. , its save to uninstall the mod after you got your shield ... save up a knoledge point ...save... install mod (back up "res" file before) craft/upgrade shield ingame ...save ... uninstall mod / override with backup of "res" file)
Also when you're engaged at start of your turn and run out to engage somehwere else it doesn't trigger Riposte - according to the description it should. It's bugged: They just tried to stick in a [only at 1st engage] code line to nerf it, but it doesn't work properly. Sad affair. And sad also that no one notices... LOL
OKay, now I have a Duelist (with cranked Up medium Armor) - with the Riposte-Shield, Lvl5 CounterAttack, Lvl8 MasterOpportunist, [not yet] Lvl 10 DefensiveRiposte, + The Lucky Charm (which they also nerfed) and the Inquisition Helmet that gives Rage on engage-attacks -> so I have 3 Riposte Attacks per turn. In the end it's (almost) the same only you need a specialized build (with medium armor) and have to observe the sequence of your attacks.

Do attacks of Opportunity ignore guard? My fighter has 55+ guard and it still getting ♥♥♥♥♥ slapped when he disengages for that one riposte.
