Which prisoners do you recruit?
I finally got the prisoner recruitment mechanic to work. It took about 2 weeks from initial capture but it is a functioning mechanic now. But unknown to me at the time, the prisoners you recruit are uniquely classed. So catching a Guard faction swordsman won't come in as a typical swordsman, they have their own class and come with unique specializations.

Atleast for me the guy who I recruited is a Brotherhood Sentry. He only has 2 specializations at levels 5 & 7 respectively. Hopefully it gets more fleshed out in the future because if they all are like this then the animals currently have more specializations to choose from.

So for anyone who recruits prisoners into the troop are there any archetypes that are worth recruiting into the fold?

at least for me i haven't seen any worth while to recruit i have a company of 77 ppl as of now and they don't seem to be any good to be honest with you. personally I've found the companions you find in prison to be better even with the bad traits. I'm still keeping them cause i like the idea of having a Zealot, Sentry, Messenger, Poacher, Civilians in my Warband. im holding my breath hoping well eventually be able to get some sort of garrison building in the future even though ive read there is no plan for that ever. lol

But perhaps someone more knowledgeable can explain the Recruit-able Prisoners better i did read that there were 2 that were actually good somewhere in a discussion thread but i dont remember which 2 it was.

Some quests will give you a mission where you pickup someone to deliver somewhere or whatever, usually many of those you can recruit right away. Those are the only cases.
For any other type of prisonner, you cant recruit him/her right away, he or she needs to gain your trust, either placing them in the camp besides other members, giving him good meals, placing guards (like wolves) besides him, building camp tools to keep prisonners without escaping until they can be recruited, etc. Many things still for you to learn and figure out. And keep in mind, it takes A LONG time for a prisonner to gain your trust if you do things right. If you dont do things right, well the prisonner probably will escape before all that.

Can I ask how you did it? I've got a bandit who's trust is at the "Satisfied" level.

I've also got one of those ghouls from the ruins and I'd love to have a few of them just for the fun of it.

And finally, I have this one prisoner "Fanatic" class. Not sure how i got them, but their first skill gives them attack of opportunity whenever they engage and their second skill gives them 2 stacks of Rage (5% damage buff) every time they take health damage.

Edit: Ah! The Fanatic is an Inquisitor faction unit. There's a couple of chances to get them.

Edit 2: Oh ♥♥♥♥, it just popped up as a camp dialogue thingy. Looks like all you have to do is heal/cup/toothpaste/food until they come around.
I also seem to have better chances keeping them from escaping when I surround them with units (not animals because they dislike it) but I dont know if thats fact.

back in the day recruiting a "wrongdoer" from those common thugs you see everywhere was a huge boon due to sorta universal and unconditional "+30% crit damage" buff, ppl made an off-tank out of him (he's pretty useless otherwise) but +30% crit dmg was quite worth it. Probably still is, for larger parties anyways
