Arthes Main Questline
Does the game default to supporting Vernalis automatically?

I sided with Laheart on two occasions, I got the deserters to side with Laheart and helped the Captain against the black caravans. Then, I prevented the poisoning of the well and helped the old priest. I got the message Vernalis wanted to talk and I was locked into his faction.

I don't want to support the guy who's either using claims of piety for political gain or a nutjob hearing voices, so I reloaded. Redid everything, except I did Laheart's stuff second, assuming that it mattered which side you supported last when you got to 100% if it was even. Nope, immediately after leaving Laheart's castle, Vernalis wanted to talk again.

What are the mechanics of this region? If it's split 50/50, does it just assume Vernalis on your part? Did I just not wait long enough, and Laheart would send a message as well eventually? It would be nice if both lords summoned you in the case of a deadlock, and the game let you decide which one you want to back.

I know you can kill both and hand the region over to the Legion, but at this point I'm annoyed and want to help Laheart out of spite more than anything else.:steamsalty:

Far as I can tell, the one you support the most becomes your side. I wasn't sure what was happening in the region and ended up helping the priest because injured and starving soldiers and all, but then learned that I was helping a religious lunatic and switched to doing everything for Laheart, getting on his side in the end.

It doesnt matter. Quests are completely fixed. There is no story line, it doesnt matter who you want to support, in the end you need to do all the exact same quests no matter what. This game works this way, there is no chosing sides or whatever. Thats just an illusion.

Also according to game lore Arthes was called Lahearta in the past...

That's not true. I went back, said "hell with it" and poisoned the well, and ended up getting the Laheart recruitment. So I can leave that dopey priest alive (and get some free wine from those farmers getting shaken down), I just can't *not* poison a whole castle full of people with a pig carcass if I want to work for the incumbent ruler of the province.

Man, having "standards of behavior" as a mercenary can be a royal pain.

I went with Laheart by choosing NOT to poison the well / bribing the deserters to work for Laheart / destroy the black caravans / killing the priest after completing his mission.

2.5/4 (or 2/3) decisions in favor of Laheart, makes sense.

There are really small variations but the end is the exact same and makes zero sense all the times. One of the most clear examples is Corenne, you cant refuse to do that quest, and yet it always ends the same way lol. Ridiculous. No dude, dont expect story variations on what you do, not in Ludern, not in Grinmeer or Drombach. Whoever says otherwise obviously needs to play more than five minutes lol.

actually i think Drombach may have a variation regarding final outcome...

You can end up siding with either scholars or the inquisition depending on who you help during the scenario.

I'm sorrry maybe i wasn't clear... i meant that actually it makes a different on the gameplay depending which side you will support. I dont want to spoil it and hasnt side with inquisition yet but regarding the outcome from siding with local king there, had an impact on hole map not just drombach region...
