Let us remove the backpack
I'll refrain from calling the Dev names but I couldn't care less about your 'artistic vision' of mercenaries trekking around with backpacks, they're ultimately ugly and unimmersive. If you want the overworld models to have them on while walking around, fine, but in combat? Moronic. Stupid even.

Get over yourself, accept that most of your community wants them gone and move on with your life. If it matters to you that much just make it an optional toggle that people who like it (Only you) can keep toggled on.

Funnily enough it's unimmersive because it's dumb not just in a fantasy sense but in realistic one's too. Fighting with so much weight on your back is suicidal.

I have been saying this for months and a lot of people actually agrees and wants it to be a toggle option like the helmets. I don't understand why they don't allow us to do it, but it feels kind of immersion breaking to be running around on heavy armor with a backpack on even if I am ambushing a group.

I hope they listen because it is the small details what makes a game good.

Supposedly the Dev refuses to compromise on this as it is the whole inspiration for the game, a fellowship journeying across the land with backpacks. That's what I hear, anyway. As my post says, it's moronic.

Even with that inspiration it's idiotic to keep the backpacks on during battle, especially considering roaming bandit groups and patrols aren't hauling anything.

This really is one of those times the jokes about the french actually ring true.

Wow, if that's true it is the most idiotic think I have heard in a while. I don't know what that even means, like, the backpack doesn't even add anything to the game, is just a visual thing and it is not even pleasant to look at nor it has any functionality lol.

I will keep playing and prob going to buy the dlc, but that's just straight idiotic. :steamfacepalm:

I never understood why so many people disliked backpacks. Imo, they're perfectly fine.

They look like a rookie mistake from a realistic point of view and add nothing from a stylistic one. Visually they just take away from the aesthetic of the armor.

They're just stupid to have on during combat. It's a tool of travel. In even moderately realistic medieval combat, you're basically killing yourself if you enter melee combat with 20-60pounds of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ strapped to your back. Even during an ambush your very first order of business would be to drop the thing as quickly as possible. The Dev is a fanny for insisting they stay on all the time 24/7.

Exactly how old are you that you can comment with such authority on the on the intricacies of medieval combat? How do you know that the packs contain 20-60 pounds of anything? They might just have a big soft pillow and a pair of pyjamas in them. Your repeated use of the words realism/realistic indicate that you may need to get out a little more. I've played over two thousand hours of this game and have never once been offended by the presence of backpacks, that's not to say I think they're a must have feature, but rather that they make no difference one way or the other and certainly aren't worthy of repeated childish rants about the developers design choices

It doesn't take an 80 y/o to know that any extra weight to the already heavy and cumbersome armor would not be welcome and would limit someone's ability to fight effectively more than they would otherwise want. It's basic physics, grandpa.

Trying to argue the validity of 'A cumbersome backpack will get you killed in Medieval combat' just makes you look unintelligent, on top of which the very topic of Medieval combat is extremely re-searchable. You could learn in a single hour of research what it would've taken actual Medieval men years to learn. Get a grip with reality and stop trying so hard to be a petulant contrarian.

No one has ever fight with backpack, even if it's just pillows inside of it. The backpack is a weakpoint, you could grab it, it can get stuck on something, you can lose your balance, it can be annoying to walk or run with it let alone fight with it on. The point is not to offend the Devs (I get that the guy is a little too harsh with his words), but to let them know the point of view of the community. If we can hide helmets which are WAY more important, why not backpacks?

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear look who just swallowed a thesaurus but doesn't really understand how it works! If there is one person being petulant in this thread it is you with your constant tantrums about how much you hate the nasty back packs :steamhappy:. If somebody disagrees with you it doesn't make them a contrarian, it merely means they have a different opinion. In any case I specifically said that I don't care about the back packs one way or another, they just don't offend me as much as they clearly do you.

Further to that you, once again dropped the reality word into the argument - spoiler alert, this has nothing to do with "reality", it's a bloody video game set in an imaginary world which has passing superficial similarities to some aspects of medieval Europe, its not a documentary!

Except one of the major selling points of said game was the Dev's attempted adherence to realism. He talks about it himself dating all the way back to the game's announcement. Maybe take the hint that all the other comments are giving you and go take your nap you old basket case.
