is crafted gear OP?
all of my crafted armor have three slots for layers. the best armor i found from an NPC only had two. i'm virtually selling everything i find.

probably the only item i'm actively hunting are the alazarian heater shields, which provide passive riposte. but everything else is crafted.

what do you THINK?

Play feed back early in the dev process stated that they wanted Crafted Gear to be the best, there was a lot of moaning about crafting being pointless at the time.

So I'd guess this is a response to player feedback.

I played EA and crafting was useless. I totaly prefer now crafting is op

For armour yes.

For weapons, mostly, but not entirely. Some legendaries are better, even though they come with drawbacks. This is especially true for one and two handed melee weapons. The legendary bows and spears are wholly lacklustre IMO.

Oh, and very early game, before you can craft iron gear for everyone then scavenging whatever loot you can find as equipment is obviously worthwhile.

I'm big into crafting, so I think the balance is about right on weapons, with only special named stuff being better than crafted usually. But for armour I don't even bother checking if the loot, which is a shame. The problem is that oils can be used on crafted and looted weapons, whereas looted armour has no layer slots - or at most 1 and very rarely 2. Give special armour loot more layers and things would be perfect IMO.

For armor, yes, due to armor layers. When you have fully layered your armor, the stats are just superior to most ingame armors you'll find.

Weapons are different, they have different functions. Crafted weapons can be best if you're after that specific effect. Such as crafted daggers are all ambush daggers (+30% crit rate when attacking from behind). Or crafted spears which do 110% max damage to non-adjacent enemies. Or crafted maces which do 50% more damage when hitting armor (when paired with Perforating Oil and Guard Breaker skill, hits like a truck until you find something better of course).

No for weapon but Yes for late game armor, keep farming the material from master miner, then craft repeatly until you get 3 star armor, they are the best for now although 2 star level 13 light armor legion from legion army loot is still best one for archer because +1 range.

I don't think it's OP, but as Rivga mentioned, there is no point to crafting or collecting most of the resources for crafting items unless the result is better then standard loot. Also keep in mind that the game might no longer be EA, but it's also not really finished. We know the dev's plan on at least one or two more areas (and there are perks that say "coming soon"), so I'm hoping to see at least a few new legendary armor items that give crafted armor some competition.

Once you start picking up and exploring the regions, you come across with purple weapons that have better starts for sure, but occasionally, better skills too, i think the trade-off for crafted gear would be better stats than the average dropped white/blue gear but basic skills, saved for a few notable examples :
-crafted dagger is good on a cutthroat, +35 dmg from backstabs
-2h swords, just a plain fan aoe
- spear is ok, doubles the damage if it strucks from a distance
the rest of the weapons have trash skills, but as many pointed out, you mostly keep the armor due to the layers, hopefully, the developer team will expand on the idea of customizing your skill set for your weapon of choice, or add/rework more or different crafted gear.

They should add in a blueprint system so when you dismantle weapons, you get a basic lv1 recipe of it. To level it up you need to dismantle higher level variance which gives exp to the recipe to let you craft higher levels.

Lv12 Fugutive Bow rains down very painful fire arrows for instance as the stats are higher.

Maybe dismantling a weapon twice as high in level and the recipe gains 50% of the currebt level.

Two lv2 items upgrades a lv1 to 2.
Two lv3 items upgrades a lv2 to 3.

Going at a 4+ level difference will instant level up.
