The camp chest doesn't lower your total weight. You can use it to store things you want to make sure you don't sell, like legendary weapons, or launder stolen items.

This thing is only useful for putting stuff you don't need in your main inventory in or sloooowwwly removing the stolen tag from items.

Won't help w/ the weight issue, which is what OP is talking about. For that, you need to unlock the travel posts and then you can store stuff in towns that you've purchased posts in.

The new trading posts are designed to deal with storage. You can also use shrines you find scattered around Arthes and Vertruse to store items.

Upgrading your camp equipment to second and third tier etc uses up a lot of resources therefore lightens your load and it doesn't count towards carry weight.

A big one is the hitching post. Base model allows two ponies assigned, tier two three ponies and tier 3 four ponies. Tier 2 and 3 eat up a lot of resources to build. Each pony assigned to it gets a 10kg carry weight buff at tier 3, that's 40kg, so this feature makes a big difference.

If you upgrade the camp fire it allows you to convert wood into coal and coal is a lot lighter per unit than wood, about half as heavy.

There are a large number of abilities in both the skill tree and the paths thing that buff carry weight for both mercs and ponies, not by a lot each but they start to add up.

Obviously levelling ponies for work rather than war also makes a significant difference to how much they can carry.

I have ten mercs and four work ponies in my party now and the total weight limit is 495kg after doing a lot of this stuff. This allows me to carry pretty much all the resources I find as well as pack my 15 crates of trade goods when I switch regions.

If all else fails buy another pony. I'm pretty sure they pay for themselves hand over fist in the long run because you can carry a lot of food and therefore explore further for longer before running back to town. Every step you take in this game costs both wages and food, so staying out for longer and going deeper on each expedition saves a vast amount of food and wages. I typically carry between 10 and 15 days worth of food at all times.

Basically if you can explore a outlying corner of the map in one trip instead of two or do three contracts instead of two in one trip you are making way more money overall.
