2. The Market square and traveling merchants for food / Blacksmith for repair kits or salvage unwanted gear if you have enough money to pay wages.
3. Learn the cooking pot through the learning system once you have enough points for it then assign a cook it will give constitution at first then another stat i forgot after awhile once they level up.
Check your camp there a table item call Workshop put a unit in that item. I suggest a ranger or archer unit to boast their stats. Each rest while your merc operating that gear you will receive crafting mats which repair your gear.
Personally in early game it is far better to use town blacksmith due it's cheaper. If you are planning to do beastmaster or animal party repairing armor you barely need it.
Cooking your food you need to craft Cooking Pot gear from your workshop. You need a lot of salt then another ingredient like wheat to make bread. If you unlock some recipe from knowledge you will unlock more.
If you are planning to unlock food knowledge in your game. I suggest just unlock some recipe that you can buy in the market. Hunting and fishing is not worth it. You can also buy some food recipe with the merchant. Personally best food recipe in the game I found so far is Cabbage Perch you can steal that recipe on a tracker camp near Tiltren.
All the ingredients of Cabbage Perch can be found in market.
you really want to get someone levelling cooking, the recipes for full meals are a lot more economical for feeding a large party later on, my daily food consumption is about 100 now so full meals are very important.
you can get a drying rack later on which can process an animal carcass into 4 dried meat per day, in my opinion its far too slow, you should be able to build multiples or it should handle much higher volume as i currently have like 100 carcasses waiting to be processed at 1 per night
