Feeding animals (for grease)
Hey there,
also this topic was discussed already in several threads, I need a guide, how to feed animals efficiently (mostly for grease).
I got a coop-game going on with a friend and we're stuck, mostly because of the lack of grease.
In my single player mode I never tamed a single animal (besides one bear), so I'm not experienced at this. Now I wanted to start a boar farm in single mode to check out how this works, but my merchants are that strong, that they kill every boar with a single strike, therefore I cant capture one.
So maybe someone could answer me the following questions:
1) What animals are suitable for grease-farming? Just boars? What about croac-swines and wolfes? Ghost boars cant even be captured, afaik?!
2) After capturing them, I just feed them until the gain the status "fat"?! How do they get this? Just by resting or do they need to level-up?
3) Do they need a special trait to gain size and spending max. grease?
Thx for any advice!

From what I've read, after you capture the boar and go to level it up, you choose "livestock". (assuming it's at level 3). Then you feed it normally with your companions until it gets the "Fat" trait. Once it has "fat", there should be a gear icon when you right-click the boar to manage it and there should be an option to slaughter the boar.

If your weapon(s) are too good and you one-shot, then get a crappy weapon and carry it around with you. Just use one companion to get it below 50% health, so one crappy weapon. That's all I know, hope it helps.

There is quite extensive material on boar farming within the community. The only thing I'd add is that if you keep your porkers for a couple of rests beyond the time they gain the fat status you'll get greater amounts of meat and grease

If you have the meat drying rack and upgrade it twice this will also produce grease every rest from meat/carcasses or oil from fish

Thx, the meat drying rack has already been updated. Does anyone know, what triggers the "Fat status"?

It looks like fattening happens just after certain amount of rests (provided, probably, that the party eats enough food).

I can confirm that keeping boars for even longer increases amout of meat and grease significantly.

Thx a lot to all of you!
