I'm just finishing up in Gosenberg, and my guys are mostly level 10, some close to 11. The final region should get most of them to 12 without much, if any, grinding. (Requires using the training dummy as early as possible).
Its really really sad. I was so into this game early on. The first few levels your building your team and choosing their perks and it feels so rewarding. Past level 3 its all passive bonuses and the grind to level up is brutal and when you finally level up you get to pick an attribute to increase. Wow...its random too, sometimes the attribute you get to pick doesnt even matter to your class....and when you finally get to pick a perk, its so damn boring. Your basically levelling up to get better gear which is just a repeat of what you already had but with better stats.
The game sucked me in early, and I dont regret my time with the game but its sad i'm just going to stop cold turkey and probably never coming back to it and never finishing it. Thats after like 160 hours of playing, but i just cant handle these long drawn out battles anymore, i just have zero motivation to see this game to the end.
Well, not "literally everyone". While I agree that advancing beyond level 9 is extremely "grindy", I still enjoy the game. You just have to have a high tolerance for combat, which is 95% of gameplay anyway.
I've just accepted that the game died for me after 3 regions because my guys are lvl 7/8 and I just can't face the boring arse grind to get anymore abilities.
The lack of progression just means that every battle ends up being the same. You're actively punished by recruiting more mercs to try out new things, because there's no way to leave people out of the fight. So you end up fighting hordes of enemies making gaining that 60xp even more tedious.
Hearing now about the half XP mod is a light at the end of the tunnel. Provided mods aren't a ballache to install.
Just give us Workshop support already.
