Mission with undocumented reinforcement?
I'm playing in experienced difficulty (adaptive), playing more RP than min maxing everything and don't have problem with tackling most of the content that came my way (half-way through second zone), I can even full clear rat's nest since the second one (the first one took me by surprise).

I came back to the first zone to restock on some things and decided to do a mission or two while I was there. Oh boy, It was messy, I got completely slaughtered.

The problem? The game decided that those mission include reinforcement (without telling us so anywhere but on the top of the screen during combat (and didn't see that, it's not like I check every fight for reinforcement)). But even doing the fight expecting those reinforcement, it is impossible.

It is not a guard fight or a bandit camp! And no I can't kill better geared and more numbered enemies in just one turn.

So without any notice you are expected to battle 3 times the number of enemy with one third of this number popping at every turn? And not only there is reinforcement, but they seem to be able to spawn anywhere, even behind me with no access to edge of the map.

Maybe those fight would be possible if there was like two turn between reinforcement or only one wave of reinforcement, but at least there should be an indicator that there will be a much harder fight. And no the "hard" indicator on the mission doesn't help since not all hard mission have reinforcement. I even tried to scout all around the enemy on a large radius to try to find those reinforcement if it was possible to stop them. But no, they appear out of thin air in only one turn.

Taking the enemy by surprise isn't much help since they still get reinforcement in just one turn, the same as if they saw us.

Is it expected to save before every fight in case the game decide to give an impossible fight? I'm more of a "deal with the situation whatever the cost" guy, than loading back an earlier save when one guy die in combat

I'm only at the second zone and there seems to be a lot of undocumented "surprise". I could understand for an early access title, but a released game?

What zone and what enemy? Besides the ones you mentioned and the odd quest I cant think of any other random encounter that has reinforcements (bar Ghost Packs spawning a Nightmare) except for Inquisitor parties in Drombach and Tracker parties in Ludern as they function as those regions guards and get reinforcements from wanted level in the same way Guards do.

Like I said, first region, so Tiltren

And the mission, 2 so far :

Assassinate Thylyn's Troop
Assassinate Rogault's Troop

Didn't have time to check the third mission

Assassinate xxx's troop missions are difficult if you can't kill the ennemy on the first round, because of reinforcement.
I've had the same problem in one of this mission, i came back after owned one or two lvl and it was easier.

First, it is noted nowhere that those mission will have reinforcement and second they are advertised as the same difficulty than other mission, just "hard". And even with a level or two, I don't think I will be able to take them on one turn. I'm not min maxing, far from it and playing without knowing which enemy will play next, I'm on adaptive so they will have gained a level too and enemies are spread out.
And if I can do those fight later, that would mean that I completely rolled on normal fight, so it will bore me.
I don't know who is their right mind thought that tripling the amount of enemies (and make them spawn right on you) was the next step in difficulty. And more, for unknown reason, they seem to hit harder than my previous fight with rogue than can almost kill one non-tank character in a single turn (and they have so much movement). I'm fitted with looted stuff for my level, reinforced with layer.

With the assassination missions, a lot of the troops are considered "guards" and get reinforced if you're wanted.

I have never seen an assassination mission have reinforcements when im wanted?

Not all of them, the ones that count towards the "Lawless" challenges on the Crime and Chaos path.

Ok, reading the mission at the tavern again and it began to make sense. They are brigand ordered mission against "guard" (not noted by the normal symbol on the map and they stick to a zone instead of following a path) . So I will have constantly unfeasible mission in the tavern clogging the list since my wanted level never go down (I'm not a really friendly "mercenary" troop)
Since guard only have reinforcement when you are wanted, by extension, we can assume that the whole country guard presence or not depend only on you being good or not. The other thieves that you hunt too, guards don't care.

And you can have doable mission being impossible just because you become wanted... Great, that will surely bite me again later in the game..

Remember, that some targets from assassinations contracts (especially guards) may be affected by your current wanted level. So if you have above 100 suspicion points, you may expect, that those targets will be have reinforcements, making those contracts much more difficult. The higher wanted level you have, the more reinforcements enemy will be have.

100 suspicion is a long gone souvenir. Even by giving prisoner to prison regularly it doesn't even go lower than 400. And I did not simply steal from merchant, only attacking them when they have interesting things to unwillingly give me. Suspicion is way easier to up than lower

Just to see the difference in difficulty, I tried finding a guard to pay for my crime (I never do that) and attacking them again, but for unknown reason, there is no guard anymore in Tiltren (I'm at 500+ suspicion). Maybe a side effect to activating assassinate mission? Or just another bug, since there is no resource node either.
