Adaptive or region locked?
What difficulty you prefer guys? I'm looking for more casual gamestyle and don't know what to pick.

Region locked would probably be the easier way as you won't deal with harder enemies too early although adaptive is much better if you want a free exploration at the cost of some harder encounters!

Region-locked all the way for me. I hate scaling enemies that are always better than you and giving you a hard fight. It's simply nonsense. Scaling enemies are lazy design at best.

i think i played with scaling and went back to start zone and it didnt feel right not being able to be strong there so i also say region locked

region locked feels better from a satisfying "ha i'm back, now who's ya daddy" kinda way but if you ever want to hit level 10 + scaled is the way to go . one day im gonna do scaled expert ironman .. one day as soon as i win that lottery..

Casual would be Region-Locked.
I'm going with scaling, as they introduced an option to reduce the difficulty mid-game. (difficulty≠game mode)

Region locked with easy battles, easy gameplay and free saving = casual
It doesn't mean you won't get any challenges ahead cause since the enemies are not scaling with you, the regions are having their own levels and if you are not strong enough before you enter them you might lose units in your very first battle. :)
With a good strategy and also by saving before of every battle it's definately great and casually good.

I play adaptive on hard mode. It's rough at the start, but it's the most fun for me.

Nah. I played at maximum difficulty, terminator with region locked and if you don't completely clear the region(some time u must run from law for example), then when you return, the boredom begins, where you have to kick babies 8 levels below yours.
In region locked you kinda have to grind between regions or you get stomped. In adaptive every fight feels the same. Pick your poison.

If you like to always be challenged in combat, definitely Adaptive.

If you like going to areas where you are so much stronger than the enemy (after a time) and you get joy out of that, then Region Locked. (Or - if you like wandering into areas where you definitely shouldnt be yet).

For me I hate finding tough content, only to beat it, then proceed to easier content.

Its not black and white though - its easier getting meat and leather in Adaptive, for example, due to the sheer amount of boars/wolves that scale to you.

And I feel like you'd get more milage out of prisoners/slaves/animals in region locked. When you need to boost yer numbers, even temporarily.

I feel like combat is harder / keeps a pace with you in adaptive, but maybe some survival elements are harder / other ways to play shine in Region Locked. Its probably worth giving both a whirl.

Tried both but prefer region locked, gives a sense of progression for chars and the merc company. I do see the appeal of having every fight always scale with you, but sometimes it's nice to revisit an area and see how much everyone has grown since than. As people say, pick your own poison haha

Rat nests and the ghost hunt are a lot more manageable in region-locked. You can actually get plague growths when your people are ahead of the rats enough to one-shot them.

I'll go adaptive for my release run, so that I can have a smaller mercenary band. Region-locked pushes you to have a larger and larger group, as the enemies you face start to come in bigger groups. A smaller squad in adaptive should face equal-ish sized squads.

tried this, but geez, every fight is like an intense game of chess. Too much thinking for me :)

Ok, seems like region-locked is to go for me. Thanks everyone.
I think merging and the open region is easier, I don't know why, from my observations it appears that bandits leave better equipment. Plus, go without merging to other areas, at Benches bears have 9lvl. With merging recently leaving 1 region I had everything on 6-7lvl, equipment +15-20, gold 10k +
