Yea, I was thinking maybe they can innovate this feature a little bit more, like the rarity should be factored in dismantling on what you can get out of it. I usually just save the armor or weapons that are "upgradeable" and sell the rest as its worth more $$ wise than dismantling for a few raw materials and some wood, etc. that be picked up in the overworld.
What are the rarity gauge in this game is Golden "Legendary" and Purple is Epic??
I always run out of materials, ALWAYS when smithing.
So I'm quite happy for some extra iron or wood.
That is when I find it to be most useful, although for low value items I find the material is a better return. Since the base price for repair kits is 5 khron anything that will give me 10 khron or less it is worth to get the 2 repair kits from dismantling plus the extra wood and iron is useful.
I do agree that it needs to be adjusted as the higher rare items you aren't going to use don't given any more then the basic white items. So the best strategy I find is to hit up any passing merchant to sell the purple and yellow equipment you don't need.
One way that you could obtain Raw materials is to craft a bunch of useless belt items in the Workshop (with your Tinkerer), which you can then break down. This essentially allows you convert surplus Iron ore into Raw materials.
I wish that there was a direct option to just create Raw materials from Iron ore but since that it is not present, breaking down crafted accessories is a workaround.
On average you can sell the armor and get the same as the cost of just buying the mats. Better still is when you get the perks to sell your items for more, then I was getting more gold than what it would cost me to just buy 2 ore 1 leather, and 1 cloth (for example).
