Thoughts on level up: CRIT vs STR (or DEX)?
Assuming the career plan cost is the same, do you guys usually go STR/DEX or CRIT?

Also has anyone actually tested that STR increases CRIT DMG? I looked at it on level-up and a +2STR at level 6 (up from 38 to 40 STR) did not change the crit dmg on the character sheet. It does increase base damage though.

You need more than 2str to increase cri dmg, like 3-4 dex to increase 1 cri chance

There is a stat guide in the guides section but, like you, I would just like to know should I go crit or str/dex when leveling up assuming I am good on Willpower and Movement. I have been going with crit except for my 1h Brute who has that STR based crit mace. Mainly because armor has plenty of either str/dex whereas crit is harder to come by.

God this question has upset a load of people, there is a whole thread of people denying Maths to prove it.
So before I even start I want to say, there is no need to min/max in this game as it is easy enough even on hard - if I dont say this we will have 100s of posts saying it on repeat for the next month. And the below is JUST talking about Crt vs Str/Dex, otherwise we will have 100 posts talking about how stupid I am for ignoring movement and willpower.

The answer is not straight forward, in broad terms the Flat dmg increase of Str/Dex is eventually taken over by % increase on Crt.
The point at which the break even happens is highly dependant on your character, things like 5% additional Str traits change this. Calculation wise it is around 120 Str (or Dex if that is the toons primary stat) - again really dependant on a few factors. This is because Str/Dex have secondary effects not just flat damage, Str also increases crit Dmg multiplier and Dex increases crit change.

As weapons SOME weapons (mainly two handed) give +100 str and you start with around 20, you can see that IF YOU wanted to have the Strongest lvl 12 and was not bothered by the 1-11 then Critical Stat is how you'd achieve. The difference at lvl 12 is not very high though and a significant number are not even hitting lvl 12 before finishing.
Up until level 9-11 Str/dex is superior and in the lower levels it can be better by 10-20%.
Another thing to consider is One handed users do not get the same 100+ Str boost (that I have seen so far) and therefore find it harder to achieve the break-even point.

I am sure outside of a few Math geeks like me, Most people have now lost the will to live but in summary:

Two-handed weapon users:
1. If you JUST care about lvl 12, then go Crt out the door
2. A sweet spot is Str up until lvl 8, and pivot to Crt

One-handed weapon users:
1. All out Str/Dex
2, There is a particular Brute weapons especially that you will be glad to Max Str out on!
3. Ranger may be the exception due to back stab etc,
