Really? I did not know this, i figured they were just used for a few battles once applied.
Which oils are the best? And can you remove oils?
Ty.
But the ones I like, away from my computer so my be off on spelling or missed stats:
Unstable oil 25% chance to do an additional attack at 100% weapon dmg.
Infectious oil, 25% chance to spread dmg at 50% of original.
Misty oil spreads dmg 50% of the time for 50% dmg, good on large aoe.
There is a good argument for sharpening oil 10% crit on the right build but it seems weaker than some of the alternatives.
Can be replaced with another oil.
The third applied on the legendary big hammer Dagan who spawn two more attack when she hit two opponents or more is incredible on one of my build, the first also on another legendary (mixed with something who do damages overtime for boss and very resistant mobs)
Yeah totally agree, Dagan with misty and infectious is killer. The star here is infectious if you have not tried it.
I Should have also mentioned Brave oil for VP generation, on specific builds is great. The way I use my ranger make this good for me, as I do not rely on crit.
And the guard ignoring one, forget the name is great on specific builds, my archer struggles vs guard and does as many is 5 attacks with the overwatch type skill, often being the first to hit an enemy, so they are fully armoured.
As I stated you should really tailor the oils to how you use a merc and what skills they have.
My swordman already has an ability to remove guard so the guard ignore oil is almost useless to her. But amazing for the archer due to how I use them.
Sharpening oil seems like the obvious default, but I'd choose Unstable oil and something else. 10% seems small vs the other effects, but I am not getting into to another thread where I need to start with the calculations, so I'll keep it as a general mathematical gut feel.
Perforating is very good as said above.
But the strongest oil are for the one relative to dots, bleed proc, burning, bleed damage proc, the one that give dot based on skill damage and fever.
Overall dots are broken in the game especially vs tanks, why need to break armor when they can die in 2/3 turns due to dots ?
What do you think about the oil that has a chance to reduce damage taken by 50%? I think that oil is amazing although I've never used it before. Never needed to. Enemies died before they could hit me.
It is a good choice if you feel the character will fact a lot of hits and is not already a tank. Overkill if they already have heavy armour and a shield, would be my personal opinion.
For me I like to end fights, and 80% of the time I manage this in round 2. This means most of the time I do not face much damage, so I'd not use this and go for a more offensive option but again it is personal rather than a hard and fast rule.
I mean with cuthroat you can in one round proc 16 instances of poison on one ennemy for 4 bravery points costs. Combined to bleed or burning and that's a guaranteed one shot on any ennemy. Prolly why it's prefered to poisonners.
For the DR oil it's good ealy/mid game since ennemies can break your tanks armor and give them a hard time. Once you reach endgame and last set of armor you have enough guard and armor to not need them anymore.
