i guess will power is nice but is not really a priority at the moment
If you build a Poisoner with movement reset on Instinctive throw, you can easily wipe out an army by kiting them.
Main attributes (str and dex) are good in early game. But in a long run the benefit of crit is better.
Don't bother taking con or wil.
18 movement for melee, 20 for ranger because deadly move reset knife throw, 16 for archer.
The rest to STR for melee, DEX for ranger and archer, don't need Con because late game armor is so high and also burn, bleeding and poison depend to max HP.
Don't need crit to because that can get from oil, profession bonus, knowledge, path, class skill, and some weapon surely critical, beside high critical can be so annoying when you want to capture they can be instant death.
1) Crit Hit Chance
2) Career Plans
Remember you only get 12 level ups, plus maybe the odd point here and there from RNG events during rests. So you want to use career plans on every level up to maximise the eventual total attribute increase you can get, otherwise your just losing points that you will never get back.
Follow those two things, and it really doesn't matter what type of build you go for or what troop composition or whatever - because whatever you choose, it will at least be min-maxed out.
Other things likes willpower and movement serve to make things easier and less tedious, respectively.
Priority goes:
- Movement
- Strength/Dex
- Crit
DO NOT WASTE your valuable point on Cons or Wills (the faster you kill the enemies, the lower chance you will get hit. In this game, Offense outdone Defense)
If you need tank? - Capture Brown Bear with 100 cons.
Crit is lower in priority because you can cook cabbage stuffed chicken (10-15% crit) and if capture and recruit a Wrongdoer, you will get + 30% Crit dam.
Specially in the 1h swordsmen fighter, not only he does his job well as a tank, he can take care of himself. Once he gets hardcore training then, its pretty much nothing to worry about. But no min-max to his str though, usually the miner and cook from the party, it feels right.
Skip will by recruit mercs with natural 15 will.
Rest in crit, you no need con/dex/str since professions and later raw weapon stats.
What are attacks of opportunity?
Its for my strategy table.
Very good if you use it - and you should use it, since fighter with riposte probably the strongest, and pushong enemy in infantrymans "overwatch" zone with bombs very useful.
Get movement to 18 min. 22 with Animals. Get Willpower to 14 (Or 15?). Then have fun and do what is fun, not min/max, with exception of STR for Dex characters and visa versa
As long as you can wipe out the entire 50 enemies in one turn with no losses in your team, you should feel the fun. Max offense = Min defense.
Besides, by Lv8, hearted shield with counter-attack simply make Willpower useless. The harder you hit, the better survival the team would be.
If I was really min/maxing, would have 1/2 tanks and 1/2 rangers...probably 10 of each. No animals.
And that would be boring as all hell.
