War pony
Hey, do you guys use war ponys? ^^ I used 2 a long time and reskilled one to a work pony. Its not so bad with a beastmaster in team and the initiative buff is really good... But in adaptive mode it scales the enemy party up and a "real party member" would be more valuable...

Not sure, if the buff is worth the extra slot / scaling...^^ What do you think? :)

I am hoping they rework the war ponies to be ride able, imagine a lancer being able to ride through 6 to eight enemies... or a swordsman sweeping while moving forward on a horse...

Depending on your party numbers, if in small teams, it is hardly worth it.
But once you pass a certain numbers say 20, that free inspiration is handy.
Especially if you do not have enough valour for the Warriors Battlefield Inspiration.

The pony still can't tank well, armor is a thin number and still requires a valour point to get inposition and protection.
But it isn't as poor as before.

The problem is DAMAGE output is so low that yeah, even with equipment and 3 collars on it.
So again it is one of those things you take, when you want something different.
And does it drag the party down, a bit. but not as bad as before.
Where it was totally useless. so back to work pony you go.

Downside offcourse with the NEW pony, you can't teach them Wrath and Taunt or Sprint anymore. since they are now human exclusive.

Just get a bear.

An upgraded sentinel give you team wide inspiration (or riposte for engaged fighters) as well as being able to swing an axe whilst wearing heavy armour, that gets my vote every time over a glue pot that has to be nursed through battles, especially in tombs

War ponies are still useless...someone on these boards convinced me to give it another shot, and I did. Waste, at least I was able to respec it. Need a massive buff....

They are good for giving your mercs more movement but that is about it. I much prefer the bear since he can actually do decent damage and take a hit.

Just get an upgraded Sentinel... 2 VP for map-wide Inspiration is a cheap price to pay.

When you have 4-8 archers with Beast Mastery upgraded, you're looking at 20-40% hp regen every round. Bears has more than quadruple the hp of horses. Now, bears do eat more. But I just found this neat trick with making boars fat and then execute them "when the time is right"... a few boars will feed your bears easily. (But those boars will make things harder for you in Adaptive Mode though... Make sure when you got those boars, just stick to trading until they become fat.)

Oh, didnt know, that sentinel gives inspiration... Huh! Too big parties in adaptive mode mans too long and annoying fights :D So I try to stay with 10 merchs + atm a bear and a war pony.

If I dont need a war pony, maybe I kick my beastmaster and control my bear with a collar and take a sentinel with me... Thats really a huge skill. I did enjoy the inspiration for 0 VP, but if I spare a Beastmaster and a war pony in my party, the fights getting smaller and I dont lose much.

Sometimes I used my war pony to buff my party in round 1/2, so I can reach a archer behind mud, but Ill find other ways :D And the bear can buff himself for 1 VP...
