trading post - no garrison - do I need one?
What's the use in this game for a 3 men garrison at your tradepost?

The person that runs the Trading post for you tells you that it so that you can leave some of your mercs there if you don't need them. The one in Drombach outright says that you can leave useless items and useless companions there. Kinda savage way to put it, but yes it is only to leave people there and it will scale down the encounters, as it will use only the mercs in the active party.

I don't know. I think it might get updated one day that you have to put mercs in there to defend the travel posts or something?

Guess so, but didn't test it so far.

The scaling system is a little strange to me.

So I could place one hero there and the enemy would scale to him, I would presume.
Edit 60min later: If the one guy in the trading post gets attacked, he would face one enemy, because of the way the game scales

The biggest reason for the trading posts IMHO is you can stash excess resources there. This is huge because it massively lightens your travelling load and provides a convenient and ever increasing stash of crafting materials right next to the forge and apothecary shop.

It also enables you to "fast travel" between your trading posts apparently although I've never used it for that purpose yet. And of course leave mercs there although I can't see why you would want to do that really yet.

I've set up trading posts in all regions I've explored just for blessed convenience of stashing excess resources ready for big upgrade rounds.

yes and I feared I might get mugged without a garrison.
so you expect that the towns get raided at a regular basis? because, well, the posts are mostly in the town centers....

I thought so, guess you just bench items and people there
