Armor for bears ?
Hello,

i went to the prison to sell prisonners and found... a bear jailed. Of course i recruited it cause why not, but i was wondering if like ponies i can (later in game) craft some armor for him and make him a war bear or something ?

thank you :)

Don't believe there is an armor for them but they are pretty beefy from the get go. You can throw the saddlebags or a trinket on them though.

At level 10, bears easily have 1200+ HP. They don't really need armor- just a ready source of HP regeneration (like the Beast Mastery skill on another party member. I think there may also be a collar that provides HP regeneration but I haven't obtained that myself).

And if you happen to have Protector (Swordsman) on the team, Encouragement gives them 30% damage reduction. They also have Berserk, on the off chance that their health goes to zero. They are not dying any time soon.

I have an alpha wolf that goes behind the bear, or can/could go between multiple bears and gives them protection automatically. So that's 30% less damage on a large health pool. You have to protect it of course, as it will take more damage with fragility when it triggers.

I don't know if bears benefit from the support buff, but you might also stack that at the strategy table and thus reduce damage further. I tend to have the bears off solo tanking, then bring the wolf in behind them, after the armor is down for bleed on tough targets.

*I use self-sacrifice not pack on the wolf as I don't run other wolves with it.

Bears are awesome tanks with their HP, but have to be careful of DoT effects since those are based on their HP so if you are used to that tiny bleed doing 9 damage and not worrying about it at all when your bear gets a cut, don't be surprised if you see them take 100 points of damage
