Instinctive throw: Worth it?
Currently looking at what to give my strategist.

Looking at "instinctive throw" it says deals 4 damage to the nearest target when using a skill.

First of all, just 4 damage? That seems really low. Does it scale somehow?

And what is considered a "skill"? Is a basic attack a "skill"? Or only things that have an activation cost associated with them?

Thanks!

not worth for the damage but the upgrade is insane
after every throw you get ALL your movement points back and you get zoom around the battlefield with it

Hu?
That isn't mentioned in the skill description at all. Where does it come from?

When you upgrade the skill later with books you can buy in arenas and brotherhood areas

Yes, damage scales. I think it does 20% of your dexterity or something like that. And yes, once mastered, it becomes one of the top 3 skills in the entire game IMO.

I really want the upgrade as a tool tip by now, I did not know this gem of info.

Its so great... It makes my ranger a killing machine!^^ And the damage isnt that bad... You do it after every skill. My ranger is my captain, he gets its for the captain skill, too^^
And I have the legendary throwing axe in my offhand "Faithless" => so after every skill I even do 2 throw attacks and I get my movement back and for killing people I get 1 valor point back; if you use the lieutenant skill before, you get 2 valor points back for every kill and after killing someone, your skill resets and it costs 2 valor points.

I had so absurd fights, where my ranger ran through the whole map and killed 7+ enemies in 1 round^^

scales with dex and can crit...and as others say, the upgrade is awesome. This skill needs to be nerfed :)

Is Faithless the same as Progress? I got the latter from the Scholars in Drombach - I took the Alazar side in the Ludern story

Just a note, Rangers using Instinctive Throw to kill 7+ enemies mostly is just for light-armored enemies and possibly medium-armored ones too. But they can't kill heavies without havign someone else engaging with the heavies first. However, they can kite the hell out of things, and if they're built right, they can kill virtually everything and are nigh untouchable.

A bunch of Assassins is basically the same as a Spearwall x Barrage combo, except highly mobile.

There are a few items that make a ranger killing soft targets even stronger

There's a needle belt item that gives +10% crit against targets wearing light armour
There's Behedit's kris as a legendary dagger (from a tomb) that gives +100% damage against targets if you're at least 4m away from any other enemy[/spoilerTaken together, it's basically an all-in-one no-more-archers solution.

Upgrade it is the single best skill in game.

Yes, it's a must take for me on any Ranger, for the mobility. I would also say, if you have the Vertruse Ruins Relic weapon and the Smot Arena Relic weapon, a poisoner following up a warrior with the relic axe can be one of the hardest hitting units, with 5 free tosses (using Poison and Taunt), a +150% boosted main strike, +plus Wrath all against a Vulnerable enemy. I see lots of people praising cutthroat, but I find tactician and poisoner to be much more efficient in terms of dmg : valor point ratio.
