which class , which armor?

where the heck can i see which class can wear which armor? and which weapons they can use

You can see the weapons next to the class' name above the merc, every class can only use basic armor (their starting rags or ones you can craft) until you get them up to lvl2-3 (depending on the class) and choose a specialization, at which point they can use the type of armor shown in it and any armor lighter than that. For example, archers can universally only use light armor, while swordsmen, depending on the specialization, can use heavy/medium/light or medium/light.
