Are recruits random? And are there hunter recruits?

After my first try restarted and have progressed to the second region, but have never encountered a hunter/archer to recruit. Are the classes of the potential recruits random? Am I missing a hunter recruit someplace?

It's random (changes over time), you have to try.

I was playing my Original game from 2021 to the finish and just restarted a new group.. I have found that you have to get to at least the first 3 Taverns.. Mt Alto, Cortia and Stromkepp to see all of them in the same time frame. It is Random as all get out...

You could also capture an archer and (somehow) turn them to your side.

Don't we can develop recruited companions lvl 3+ for ANY specialization avaiable (hunter/beastmaster/infantryman for archers)?

He talks about recruiting captured enemies and i answered him.

Ok, i've been confused by initial post with that statement 'have never encountered a hunter/archer to recruit'.
