Im not naturally an intuitive player either...
Play smarter, not harder. (?)
Watch some game play on Youtube by folks who know what they are doing.
Keep your starting party to no more than 6 mercs. It makes everything easier.
Do not recruit animals until you are comfortable with the basic game mechanics.
Play in Tiltren and do not leave Tiltren until you are easily winning fights and have a bunch of coin.
Do not attack merchants or refugee caravans. Only do the paid missions you get in the Inn and the ones that come up from the locals as you visit their homes.
Do not steal stuff - keep your wanted rating at 0. Eventually you'll learn how to manage this better, but fights with the guards are certain suicide early on.
Understand the mini games and get good at them (especially smithing and lockpicking).
Savescum. It is your friend.
Wartales is a great strategy game that you can just play around inside of - although its not a true sandbox game. It has some odd systems that just take some time learning. Well worth it once you do.
The devs should stop implementing things that make the game easier because it's just about grinding and farming now:)
Just restart when you feel like you are stuck, after mastering the tiltren map go to vertruse and arthes

It's the most forgiving. It's pretty easy to pick up. Mostly intuitive controls and interface. The game is pretty good about showing you what you need to know. Battles are simple-ish, once you have an understanding of how to control the battlefield.
Don't feel bad if the game seems difficult in the beginning.
The game isn't difficult though, you just need to work out the underlying mechanics. Once you know how combat works and how to sustain your self in terms of money and food the game opens up.
It's hard to answer this unless you explain what aspect of the game you are finding difficult.
