I think it's because some people have the mindset that this game is purely about hitting max level as quickly as possible through non-stop combat, and "completing" it in a very linear fashion. That approach completely misses out on so much of the games content and character. I probably have more hours in-game than is healthy, but I still find ways to vary the challenge and each update, whether it's the free stuff or the paid DLCs just adds to this.
