Reinstall or ?

The Dec 20th patch broke Wartales for me. I can't load saved games as it just hangs on splash page (group outside of large town image) but humorously does show party and other tool bars with lower left text "Waiting for players"... Sad but never played Co-Op so wtf. Starting a new game just hangs on loading. I did file a bug report several days ago, but nothing yet to fix this issue has been patched. I know this regression bug is related to the last major release for Co-Op play and the many small patches to fix stuff with it afterward. The gut punch to me is I could care less about Co-Op.

So ..
I either wait for some sort of patch to fix it or try and reinstall the game. If so will I lose my saves and thus would need to move them somewhere else if I wanted to keep them? Usually reinstalling does not delete saved games, but I want to check to see if anybody knew for sure.

Shouldn't lose saves by reinstalling, but easier than that would be go to your steam library > right click wartales > properties > local files > verify integrity of game files

ok wow. So it found 2 files with an issue and re-acquired them. Game is fixed now. Something bad must have happened during one of the patch cycles on Dec 20th. I had known about this 'verify file' option in steam, but basically forgot about it since I never really used it. You did for me what Wartales support couldn't do.

As a note if you are using solid state drives of any type do not allow caching... caching will write error most of the time.
