How Do I Refine Rimesteel ?

I bought the unrefined rock from a merchant band, but can't refine it. Do I need a recipe? Where to I find it?

Apothecary. Last thing on the Knowledge tab, also low on the Apothecary table.

Need level 2 alchemist profession I think. Or level 3.

By the time i found enough rimsteel to make anything i was already buying better weps from traveling traders.
Early game it seems like a waste but havent gotten to late game so i dont know if later its more worthwhile.

level 3 miner will receive some from iron when you mine it. The armor is worth btw. I have maybe 2 sets of heavy armor that is better then rimsteel crafted heavy, but the rest of my medium and lights don't even come close to the armor of rimsteel.

Rimsteel in the end good for offhand weapon, the sickle offhand is OP, guard +7%, no stat wise need for damage, have random chance to debuff, range attack no valor, can use for every class and 0.5 weight per sickle.

Keep in mind, you can roll much better values than it states by succeeding in the smiting mini game.
