What are your thoughts and ideas on the endgame?
Having logged a fair few hours and multiple runs, I've noticed that the end game still needs some work. What are your thoughts and ideas?

Here are a few of my observations:

> Around level 7-9 combat looses something. Outside of boss battles and arenas. I notice I start avoiding combat around that range.

> Lack of variety and interest in enemies at that level range. Whereas games like Xcom, there is always a new bad that is going to come in and ruin your day. In Wartales it is the same enemies just with more health and armor.

> Leveling in that range is really slow and grindy with less than great skill rewards and gear.

> No big event like a raid or siege to gear up for.

> No big story event to look froward to and prepare for. But this is the sand-boxy nature of the game. Ludern does a better job than the other regions of a finale, but even on hard it was really easy.

Here are some ideas:

> Introduce mini bosses at various level ranges. Not as powerful as the world bosses, but a significant upgrade to the leaders. Make them dangerous but not annoying and 'bullet sponges'.

> Add a rival merc mob that either hunts you down, or can join in the middle of battles to try and steal your contract. I'm thinking Xcoms Chosen. They just turn up and suddenly make a normal mission really tricky and interesting.

> Buddy skills. That the enemy and you can develop. This makes you look for dangerous combos and positioning, on both sides.

> Improve each regions final event by adding siege, a super tomb, or boss, or just something to make them worth gearing up for. Or have replayable events that mix it up.

> Gear. This is a larger area for the devs to improve. But high level gear is really...unexciting. To both track down and use. Make it very custom, with one off crafted suits, or rare suits etc. Incorporate crafted gear and bought/looted gear better.

> Tweak the xp gain at level 7 and onwards. Make it exciting to hit those levels. Which may mean adjusted the skills you gain.

In conclusions, I hope the devs are working on the endgame, as up until you reach that point, it is solid and lots of fun. But it runs out of steam, and I know we are in EA, and they have added regions. Plus it is a sandbox, so difficult to build to a big story finale and event. But it needs something in my opinion.

They really need Variety of Enemies and a tweak of initiave system past level 8 ...
If they can't make new Enemies ...
Use those from the arena with not able to capture flag by just giving them names.
But I rather see Zealots with Oil weapons or deserter axeman spread out trough encounters.. (always a nasty threat , torch and 1-5 attacks, deserter can taunt your tanks)
More different type of offhand enemies (since they are still consumables.. )
Something that makes them a threat again to be prioritise or ..

Example Legionairs .. only real threat Interceptor twohander (that is more cause it can do a lot of armor damage spread troughout the party. thus need more repair materials or go back to forge ) and Archers (cause they are just annoying that is all not even a real threat) the rest is just who cares about the rest. so what if the Emmisary heals up somebody for 20% health... and who cares they ad deflection to somebody (I mean a torch attack/aoe attack gets rid of it)

There were a ton of Weapons from Weekly bounty .. with some of them new effects.
Just create a challenge group of 4 named men (only 1 not when people have 40 mercenaries and they spawn 4 groups .. or people have 6 mercenaries and they hardly encounter them) make it a random encounter to twist things up.

the level 8 initiative system should be 1-2-1 so one of yours , 2 of enemies and 1 of yours.
Cause it is now too simple to say , ok who is next , oh it isn't a threat , lets go do something else. hidding the initiave system is lame ... sorry also means fixing that !!!! on the enemies head.

Now the enemies should be past level 8 2 types atleast, that have high priority kill order. instead of 1 or they can't reach me , and oh that one isn't a threat at all.

XP grind is terrible :P but that is already known, and easy to fix once Gosenberg isn't so new anymore.

I was thinking in the far game to :
1- have a very big mystery with the ancien. A way to discover a big secret with a really hard enigma. (the answers could be found in the book you find in the tomb or just find clue in a book... etc). Maybe to find a lost city, magic etc... idon't kwon.

2- they could make a big war incomming against Alazar. Where you can choose your side. ALazar wanted to get its territorry...

THe game could also make your choice really effective : No refugee since arthe civil war is ended, or find a way to cure Ludern from its Zombie infection, but make it really really hard (nmber of Z kill, remedy given or sold....etc).
Get commerce invest, house or land to possess.... etc...

would be helpful early if things like being attacked while sleeping would lock your map positions and attack order for the first round. my build the game is pretty much done between 5th and 6th level the fights at that point are a joke. I need to switch to hard instead of normal also but first play through since the update.
the game needs something to decide initiative. instead of you picking who you want at a certain time. would definitely change the combat if you didn't have 100% control all the time.
it's good for the bosses but regular fights are just to easy.

they also need to change the cost of the skill upgrade books. first one costs more 500+ instead of 300 and then start doubling or set it as a thing that can be learned in the brotherhood and the cost effectively governed by the skill type. thieving should also cost you at least a cooldown period before the person will trade with your party. some things need to be un thievable at lower levels journeyman or master could change that.
thieving could also cost you on another level while suspicion is high the town will not allow you entry. above 200 and the next town hears of your exploits and won't allow you entry and so on. trying to enter a town would boot you outside and set the guard on you.

endgame I just can't hang that long my furthest has been 8th or 9th level. then I start over.
