Outlaw issue at higher party level
Game has many great dynamics; I'm running a trade route with a party mainly lvl 7, geared and upgraded skills. As I try to capture outlaws to increase my purse and lower my wanted level it has become increasingly difficult at higher levels. I'm dropping outlaws in 1 or 2 hits and waste lots of time on trying to strategically engage my party to not kill them but get them low enough in health to be taken. Even found employing war horses for that 25 damage they deal with rush gets to be too much for lvl 6 outlaws. Suggest to Devs to give us a means to incapacitate an opponent or give a new basic skill of fist so we can slug them down that 10 hp needed to take them. When I'm fighting a group of 16-20 outlaws I'm trying to fill up my 12 chains and this has been a bottleneck for time. If anyone has suggestions how I can capture these weak frail criminals without rushing in empty handed, I'm all ears. Cheers

Carry lower weapons (ones you make at base compendium) Or beat them down with fists and then take them. I do not do the Kidnapping till later and I make a thief with no weapons hit her till she is down below half.

Beside striking them with your high dmg melee/range weapons; you can simply apply bleeding/poisoning/burning; capture them when their hp is low enough.

why would you want to capture 12 outlaws in one go?
You can't sell infinite outlaws to a prison in one go, they have a max they can take every few days of 3 or 4 depending on the prison and your stock can only take 4 at a time that don't need to be guarded in order to not escape and each prisoner in camp costs food.
You're better off capturing a few as you get near a prison, selling them and moving on

Tried using a Poisoner as a capturer, which is OK except for the knife throws. The knife throws keep killing the targets unexpectedly, especially when galvanized, and we need that for the mobility gain. Poison is a pretty safe way to slowly wear down the HP, even galvanized, as the damage is always 5% per stack. What doesn't reliably work is using a poisoned weapon- as the damage output is always excessive and there are factors like Fury/Brutality/etc that can bring it up too high. But the Poison Bomb skill is safe to use, especially vs big groups.

You could try underarming a good tank with a low level club or something and use it to lock down the target. An Armourbreaker is what you want, as the damage is doubled vs armour(good) but normal vs the body.
Low powered animals like boars can also handle small bites to help out. Not mosquitoes though. You need to break the armour, and they don't touch it, and their builds can really fluctuate the damage.

Having more than one set of weapons and swapping gear just to do something I do routinely in travelling is tedious, I've tried a variation of it and still found with lower lvl weapons on some they hit like a truck. Yes dots help and I have to partially rely on them but not enough.

Why 12 prisoners, well I have 2 jails in my route that take a total of 8 prisoners, hence the constant replenishing. Food is not a problem as I have multiple locations along route that I buy meal ingredients or steal entire meals themselves, thus the need to turn in prisoners regularly. Feeding them is not an issue and as for escaping, if you employ the stocks then arrange your camp with prisoners surrounded by party members, their chance for escape is low.

Robin, thank you several good tips for me to try. I'll look for an armourbreaker weapon next. I've had wolves and they ate too much for too little return in fights and carrying cap. Turned me off any other animals besides horses, which I build as tanks and they did help get outlaw hp down but now are starting too hit too high at the level gap. I'll get some piglets and give them a few rounds.

Cheers

Why not just cap refugees and sell the to the tiltren lumbermill, it's inifinite sales, if you're going that route

Apologies if it was confusing, I'm not hauling prisoners for money, just to reduce my wanted level, money is just an added perk. I haul trade goods for money, way worth it, hit bounties and quests along the way. In those travels it's more cost effective to steal meals then turn in prisoners to clear wanted level and repeat on next voyage.

Hi. You can also pay for opening the gates to Ludren if you are playing a trader path. Most goods can be sold for higher price. There also a jail there if you wanna dump prisoners. 1 freebie though you can max you crews in order to get her at level 11. From the gates into Vetruce due east. However I must caution you the enemies are high level there. Good luck.

you can try to attack potential prisoners with spearman at point blank, the spears with the basic attacks that knocks back do less dmg when in direct contact. or you give archers taunt ability so you can force them to fistfight the enemy for low dmg

Stardustfire you're onto something there, yes put taunt on my 2 hunters will give me a low dmg fist action. Thanks, great idea for a work around.

i'm sensing you are playing 'region locked', yes? If so, recommend you restart a new game and play free mode...
jumper-del Aug 12, 2022 @ 1:19pm
No dude i'm playing free, I'm just doing too much damage all around and kill outlaws before I can get them to the sweet spot to capture them. Liking the archer tank method though.

capture some mosquitoes - they are good for doing direct damage to health
