Whenever you switch professions, the current one reverts to its minimum XP of its current level.
At the moment, the only profession worth having in battle is from a companion tinkerer (+5% crit hit) unless you have some units weak in willpower, in which case scholar or angler.
That requires remembering to constantly flip some guys' profession at rest and reassigning them to their profession locked assignments.
I wouldn't call +3 to str or +3 to con overpowered, considering the late-game weaponry/armor. I wouldn't mind if the exp caps for the 2nd, 3rd, ... profession would be enhanced. But I do conceed the fact how it could get boring to grind for profession exp.
