Game wont start after last update
I get the error "Can't lock GC in unregistered thread C:\Projects\hxtools\hashlink\src\gc.c(239)" after pressing play on the steam pop up with either option of Play Wartales or Wartales (open GL.) The game worked fine previously, I've emailed the tech support last week but no response. Has anyone else had this or know what it is? I've reinstalled, ensured all my drivers are up to date, etc. Any help appreciated.

Wartales have nothing to do with hxtools as far as i know ^^
Try perhaps to desinstall hstools, it seems this try to launch scripts in parallel of the game ?

Uninstall and reboot and reinstall, Steam seems to have screwed up the download

Thanks for the advice I've tired to deinstall hxtools but don't have any software called that and performed a full C and D drive search and not files called hxtools, so looks like the Wartales Exe is looking for this software that doesn't exist. I've also tried uninstalling Wartales for a 3rd time, rebooting, renaming the old Wartales directory with the old save files and reinstalling but still get the same error. Any other ideas?

Try a different server if you can.. Here I can use Pittsburgh or Philadelphia.. Hashlink is a mod tool..

Thanks again. I've tried 3 different servers and all give the same issue. Still no response from their support team either :(

I think there is a Hashlink C compiler in the installer that creates C/Projects during the install then deletes it. This link shows the Hashlink ties to hlboot.dat which is in my wartales directory. your antivirus OR windows may not be letting this happen. see if you have Steam running as an admin and if not set it that way and try again.. or use another drive. This is a site that show the boot dat in this hashlink (https://github.com/HaxeFoundation/hashlink/blob/master/src/main.c)

i've tried a reinstall. keep getting a "disk write error" on the update. is that what you're talking about?

Got "disk write error" too, try reinstall and no dice, check file integrity okay.
Not sure what else to do.

Edit: Just disable my antivirus and update okay

The C Compiler was the update in the last update..

I get this, and can't play. I uninstalled, but it made no difference.

I've now tried deleting again, and installing on a different drive - but I still get the exact same problem: Disk Write Error.

No I get the specific error "Can't lock GC in unregistered thread C:\Projects\hxtools\hashlink\src\gc.c(239)"

I've run as admin and turned off all anti virus, still get the same error. My install is on the D: drive as the C: drive is only small but not full. It's the way Dell has configured my last few desktops so all my games and Steam are installed on my D: drive so not sure if this maybe causing a problem. There is not enough space to install the game on the C: drive for me to test.

That is the best I can see it is the C Compiler. Uninstall and if you can go into reg edit and search for haslink and delete any reference you find and install after a restart..

Try run it as admin, ?
Try run the executable in the game directory to know if it's steam's fault?
ALso, all the disk write errors, go to steam settings, downloads, and clear the download caches;
