How to get wood??
Care someone to explain? I dont have the lumbermill option since I fought the guys (I didnt knew that you can give refugees, this game seriously needs a full tutorial or wiki and not guessing of finding things by luck...it is a bit ridiculous.....).
So I see piles of wood at some camps, but how do I do it? I dont have anyone with woodcutting as a profession. Then it says an axe is needed. When I looted 2 axes (one hand & 2 handed, noone could equip it) Some help please?

i get my wood every morning

joke aside
you can scavenge wood from world map
some quest give you wood for reward (like refugee mission)
some location (like lumber mill) have wood chopping stump
your worrier (guy with axe) can chop wood for you
whiteout any profession

so.. go hire some worrier.
they are good soldiers and good wood cutters
I did the quests but it is not enough for crafting.
I dont want to get a warrior just to cut wood, my partry is full. It is obvious I think thats why I am asking..........
okay... more tip

i am not sure about current ver
but merchants (both settlement merchant and wandering caravans)
sometime sell woods

and...what do you mean full party?
as far as i know, there is no party limit
I mean that I dont want to get more than 6 persons, because the game is not balanced in terms of wages & food, and the gain of having a lot of persons is minor, compared to the added food and wages...... I have never ever met a caravan or merchants with wood, not once...
the wood choping stumps can appear at nearly every location, they appear random and are a onetime harvest thing like metal ore vines. all you need is the class that uses an axe, and you can get one of them for nearly free when you do the thing with the plaguebitten woodworker NE in the start Region if your start composition has none. best case use is around 8 wood.
other than that there are the logpiles you can get and 20 wood when you help the refugees woodworker camp.

but the woodchop stumps trivilise the wood problem mostly if you are at the lookout at each location that you visit.

If you want a balanced party, you'd end up with one of each weapon (knives, bow, spear, club / hammer, sword, axe) to start with. Which means including a guy or gal with an axe.
Since axes are needed to chop wood, you got the person in your party.

What's more important and certainly a lot more convenient; you don't need to choose another specialism for a wood cutter.

So you can pretty well have a 6 person party (including someone with an axe), enter some camps and chop wood at the block without any problem.

Thorin :)
I’m running 8 and I think I’m quite happy with that number. You get bigger loot the more enemies you kill in a group so the rewards scale somewhat.
unfortunately I didnt know that you need an axe and I didnt got one (its one of the 1000 unknown mechanics of this game). Currently my party is 2 tanks, 2 archers, 1 rogue, 1 2handed, and it is pretty balanced in any situation......

just grab a ax prisoner, same for any skill you don't want to do just use prisoners
Grab the stocks item from ludern jail if you want to keep some skills prisoners so they don't run off
I use them for mining too normally
All your units can multi skill but I find having them all as tinkerers is the best skill bonus
max them out then swap skills
You can swap and change any maxed out skills to suit what you need then

Umm have you tried walking around the forests? There is wood just lying around.
Hi. If you turn in the refugees to the boss lady in the mill north of town, the reward will include wood for each. So far no limit in my play. Good luck. Yeah gotta make peace with the Slaver first to cut a deal. She only accepts refugees. Good luck.
The axe can be worth it just for ovation alone, especially if you don't raise mov (I don't know why you wouldn't since it's the best attribute to raise, but to each their own)
Ovation apart however, 2 of the 8 legendary weapons, the best weapons in the game, which can all be upgraded to level 12 and used at level 12 by a level 9 unit, are axes, so not having axes is less than optimal.
If you were looking to remain as small as possible while being as powerful as possible, you'd still want 8 units, so each of your units uses a legendary and just grow the legendaries as your units level up (legendaries are now upgradable at any companion camp in any region), which would mean the only class you do not have in your party is the most powerful unit of the game, the one handed sword. So 9 or 10 units total (all 8 legendaries and 1 or 2 one hand swords) would be your ideal team at it's smallest.
