Capturing animals and prisoners.
For some odd reason, only my rangers can capture animals. And only warriors can capture prisoners. Are these features exclusive to specific class only? Tips never mentioned it being class exclusive. The fact that archers cannot capture but have animal taming builds makes no sense. Also, brutes, if anything, should also be able to capture prisoners... they're brutes... That's what they were used for back in the day. #brutesquad

there is no reason for this to be happening. I'd guess you did not realize you can only capture with your basic attack action (either you use the basic attack or you capture)

In order to capture a unit you need to ensure the fallowing:

1. The unit needs to be below 50 % HP.
2. The unit needs to be engaged by one of your units.
3. The capturing unit must not be engaged.
4. The capturing unit must have it´s basic attack available, capture uses the basic attack action for the turn

It doesn´t matter what weapons your capturing unit carries, even an archer can do it (wasn´t sure about this myself, but tested it today and it works).

I hope this helps

The important question is can you recruit those human-like, dark loving zombie bastards into the merc party? I needs em!

If you are in front of the enemy, the enemy is not engaged/you are engaged with the enemy and therefore not capable of capturing anyway ;P

Naw. You can be on the same side of the arrow while someone else is engaged.

You need a free chain to capture a human and 5 ropes for a bear (not sure about a wolf 3 or 5?).

Yet another annoying requirement. Apparently the enemy must not have any armor, so using just poison/bleed is not an option. Found this out the hard way in the Femme Fatale quest.
There must be something else going on, still cant capture a unit with my own complying to all the rules above, just dont have the option present...

Im having the same issue, i have no idea how to capture. I have an enemy on 5 health, engaged in combat, no armor, and chains in my inventory but none of my guys have the option to capture? is there something im missing? im doing a new run, this is my second fight of the playthrough.
Target must be engaged with another unit, cannot be a Captain, Unique, or Elite enemy, you must have adequate tools to capture them in your inventory, and the tools must be valid for their unit type.

Animals require multiple ropes for capturing them, with larger animals requiring more than smaller animals. I think it's 5 ropes for a bear for example. Some units such as Mosquitos and Ghost Pack animals require special tools to capture them.
