Definitely need a fixed property in a camp, a fortress!
It’s still my opinion that the team really needs a bastion of their own, a property, a fixed and permanent camp. Frustration still didn’t go away regarding the ground team. I played with it again one day and it already hurts to play with it again. It's not good this way!

Hi all,

Just to reiterate what I've previously stated: we will not add a sedentary base.

The short answer/reason is that you already have a base: your camp!
You are nomadic mercenaries, it would be a bit counter-intuative to add something that is the opposite of that, in addition to going against our vision :)

Hope this helps!

As per @Conan's request I'll be locking this thread.

And why would you need that? xD You are a Mercanary Warband..... 99.99% of these never ownd more than the Stuf on there Body and the Coins in there Pocket...... Except maybe, thats a big MAYBE, a little House where the rest of the Family lifes, but that was a Personal Thing of a Merc and most likely they would never allow or want the whole Warband coming to their homes

Well since this is a video game and not real life, I completely agree with OP. Even real mercenaries don't fight and travel every day of the year. My cousin used to work for Blackwater and they definitely have a headquarters.

U do know Medival Mercenaries and todays arnt comparable right? Despite that, the "its a game" Argument is Crap and you know it xD But i still waiting for an answer: Why would u need that? what benefit would it provide you dont have through the camp? xD

While interesting as an idea it pretty much goes against any concept of the game as it's developed so far. In the Black Company by Glen Cook they had a home known as Kharkanas - but never really ever got back there till years and years and years later; and even then they didn't stay - in Malazans Books of the Fallen they never really have a home - though the Isle of Malaz was considered somewhat of a home. Maybe, in the long long long term the mercs in your outfit might have a home but it's unlikely. I would consider it possible that at some point the developers do consider the capability to 'build' a semi-permanent camp somewhere in a region - something like a Trackers Camp, if you will. But then the game begins to resemble Evony, Vikings, and other mobile phone games which are nothing but money pits... that's my thoughts for what they are worth.

What benefits? Be able to leave items and companions behind. Add base management to the game, being able make a small income, quests for the base, defending the base from other mercs. The list goes on.
And the, "it is game argument" is not crap. If we wanted everything to be exactly like real life l, there would be no point to the game. Just go outside.

Well the Black Company might be a good example, the Malazan one isn't. They were a large army that was betrayed by their queen, among others, so they didn't even have a home and they definitely weren't mercenaries.

Well... they ended up fighting for themselves so that was the reason for the comparison so perhaps, agreed, a bit of a stretch but in the end (i.e. Bonehunters) they really were fighting for themselves and not Malaz.

Oh they definitely were. I agree.
Definitely my favorite series of the multitude of fantasy I have read.

Well, one reason to have a central base of operations word be to develop better gear, recipes and what-not. Add an intelligence section for war news and the development there-of. You know more complicated ♥♥♥♥. Just a thought.

Is the game worth buying and playing? Have purchased so many that are so very poor that I am somewhat jaded and nervous to once again waste money and life hours.

Actually technically the merc unit already has a home base in every province the retraining place that was added. just need a storage facility and facilities to use and train the professions perhaps even have a means to train and level people up in the bases. A location you can tailor your party who stays at the base who you take out and only active people in the party get paid wages. Plus they could add means to re-scale and upgrade your gear in the professions. So you have a top of the line level 5 2 slot set of armour and your partys now level 8 fine. Have blacksmith upgrade to 3 slots if they have the accessory that improves bonus slots and then re-scale from level 5 to 8. or upgrade from no star to 2 star. thus no need to keep hunting equipment you can just fix it yourself. will this costs mats and money sure. Also have it when you finish a region you can buy their weapons and armour from their government buildings. With trackers depending how in with them you are how many hunts you have done depends on what they will sell you.

Yes it is.

I dunno. I'd actually vote against a home base. I feel like the whole idea is that you're a wandering band of mercenaries. Like forces on the move, you've got to manage what you take with you and maintain your supply train. If you're hoarding goods, then maybe there can be enhancements down the line where you could buy carts and wagons to expand your carried inventory but then I'd figure there'd have to be a mechanic where you could have those looted if you retreat from battle (% chance like how you can have one of your mercs captured).

On a side note, isn't the whole idea that our bands are part of the Companions or something? There are Companion fortresses in a couple of regions (plus the Trackers' camps). Could just have a way to keep gear at those places as an alternative to building permanent bases. More resource management for a game about resource management... :)
