I just gotta ask, is $35 dollars really such a big deal ?
I have to be completely honest. In my PERSONAL OPINION, not judgeing or making ANY assumptions about any person or group of persons personal situation, let me make that TOTALLY clear.

Here goes.

At some point { again imo } EARLY in life like 20 years old or so money like what were talking should no longer be this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much of an issue. 20-30-40 dollars for ANYTHING you enjoy for more than or at least ONE hour is imo sooooooooooooooooo common place it shouldnt be this big of a deal.

How many things in life do we spend 40 dollars on and never even use or consume in 15 minutes or less ?

A good drink and a cigar that lasts 20 mins we easily spend $40 on.
A cheap pair of shoes or shirt wee just dont like and never even wear.
A meal that we eat/digest and discard 45 mins later.
A PPV fight that lasts 3 rounds.
Giving 2 people on freeway off ramps $20 each. That feeling lasts 30 seconds max.
A decent tip at a regular eaterey or bar.
Spending the night at a decent hotel bar with a strange woman can EASILY cost $100 in ONE hour on drinks and not even getting laid.
The time/fuel/effort to help a stranger from Home Depot deliver a new appliance to their home cuz you own a big truck and they dont.

I could actually go on all morning till i have to go to work.

So im seeing people claiming to have been " burned " in the past over money spent on a game they didnt fully enjoy or turn out how they wanted.

Has it really come to this being the ONE purchase in your life that you choose to be " frugal " about ? I cant even count the tens of thousands of dollars ive spent/wasted on golf clubs/scooters/cars/clothes/hotels/bets on pro sports ect ect that were silly or just plain foolish.

At least on a video game you own it forever wether it turns out o be a dud or amazing, How many other items have you spent money on that NEVER WEAR OUT OR BREAK ?

God, if only I was as " smart " as people are today id be rich and retired.

I just had to get that off my chest, and the time people waste telling other why they WONT soend 30 dollars has got to be worth 100 at least lol

I gifted 3 copies of Myth of Empires to freinds before that game was pulled off Steam, Ive got over 100 hours in it i think and i dont consider it a bad financial decision.

Fun IRL isnt cheap so if you can get 2-3 hours of it for 40 bucks on here that money well spent imo lol

edit:: This commented on the USA, other countries and regions i have been told the value of money is COMPLETELY different, im sorry and dont mean to offend or belittle anyone

Value of money differ from a country to an other, 35 € or $ could be a lot somewhere else.

Your 100% correct. I wasnt thinking about that, i was basically commenting to a person in the USA, i do have empithy for people in different situations and should have noted that.

Thank you for pointing that out.

What is amusing is... That is a night out pretty much. Not even a particularly fancy one. As I look at my 100+ hours of enjoyment so far with Wartales...

Yup, that's worth it.

1 last thing, I was thinking of all the other ways Ive wasted money.

Strip clubs
Vegas

thats all im gonna say lol
madpraxis Dec 23, 2021 @ 5:30am
Hah. Your talking to someone who used to fly, or drive, to Vegas at least once a month.
Ok, to visit friends and see people I miss, sure, buuuut... It's Vegas, baby :D

And honestly, stripclubs. Meh. Spent most of my life *not* single. Which means I'm already throwing money at a woman. Who I can touch. Never understood the point of stripclubs, heh.

Game, even in 'not actually a complete game' state, is...worth it. It's future looks bright indeed, considering how well they have done already.

I'm not from the US. The price was a bit of a turn-off. That it is in EA is another turn-ff. But the biggest turn-off for me was the title "Wartales" is sooo sloppy, more suitable for a lower-priced and lower quality game.

Anyway, what changed my mind were 1hr+ "reviews" on Youtube. They were not really "reviews", it was just a guy really getting into a game and pretending that he is producing content. Best endorsement ever.

Don't like the price don't buy it, I have over 100+ hours on this EA title money well spent. I have spent much more on AAA crap then this. Best EA I have seen in a long time. But to each their own, people make their own decisions on what they are willing to spend.

Was my response too. Like...for and early access, it is obscene how well put together, how complete it is. Like... seriously. The only thing missing is more content, which is coming. The balancing, the exploration layer, the battle layer, even the running the business layer. It's weird seeing, and playing, an EA game that actually...really could be released as a complete game, hah.

Said it somewhere else, but when literally your only screaming complaints are about how someone is playing it like game 'x' instead of Wartales? Like...damn. They done good.

Some priviledged people dont understand this but buying a game means you are either not saving money or that you are not buying something you need.
In other words, stop comparing it to real life things you do or need because most people can barely afford a decent and healthy life style.
35 euros is about 10% of the minimum wage in most parts of the world and its the cost of food in a week.
And even beyond that, most gamers hate and are tired of the early access model. Its a big risk, you could get a good game in 1-3 years.
This is very far away from the final product, nothing is balanced and its repetitive.
There are good cases of early acces where most of the game is great like home behind 2

Sorry for the op, fair pricing doesn't (and will never) work that way :)

If it was about the time spent, your bed and underwears would cost thousands, and your doctor... well... almost nothing.

You can't compare cabbages and carrots.

Fact is it's one of the most expensive EA games. Worth it? Depends on each person's opinion.

to be honest we ae talking about 35 $ or € which means we are not talking about other regions - there you have to pay much less for this game ! (according to some threads regional pricing wasn´t optimal set up from the beginning for some regions but it already was changed by devs) .. so saying that this is much on other parts of the world of course is correct, but is not a valid argument in this case.

I totally agree with the OP - 35€ is not much imho - depending what you get .. it is of ourse like with all luxury goods you don´t need - and those you can compare .. visiting a cinema or going out into a club for sure costs more in our part of the world .. so if you spend 35$ and have 100hrs fun with it, it is defenitely worth it!

I can remember in the 90ies a game even not AAA was much more expensive than games cost in our days now ! I can remember spending 50-60€ was the regular price for many games - and those were low budget if you compare to current games. Today you have so many possibilities for reviewing a game before you buy it .. (forums, youtube twitch etc..)

I knew from the beginning this game I will like ... so for sure I will spend 50hrs plus (now I have many many more ;-) ) so I knew it will be worth it!

I wont lie 35 is hefty for a n indie game, but you gotta have hopes it will be fully fledged game and not abadonware

i think the dev is a fool if he abandons this game

like seriously this is a triple A game in disguise and so addicting

what were we talking about again? oh yeah 35 haha i say 30

I don't usually spend 35CAD (or whatever it was) on any game unless I've thought about it a long time. At my age and position in life, the money isn't the issue. I'm just thrifty. But If I get an hour of playtime per 15CAD spent, I consider myself as having broken even.

While I don't want to see this game abandoned, compared to many other EA titles I've bought over the years, I think this one already delivers good value for my money.
