How do I pick locks?

I have been trying over and over and still do not understand how I am supposed to be successful picking a lock with a lock pick. Need some guidance. Great game BTW!!

The pick goes in the lock....then you just pick random positions and tap your left mouse button. If your in the wrong position the lock pick will break. Just move around untill you find the right position and the lock will open. Just tap the pick fast and you can see and feel if its in the right position or not. Then move to another spot . If your in the wrong position the pick will break. You should be able to have 3-4 trys per pick.

Use the sound system, it should stop making clicking sounds when you are around the right spot. Once you've located that spot you can start picking it by lightly tapping until you find the exact location it stops resisting.

Okay, I just went through 15 lock picks trying every position that I could find. I didn't feel anything or see anything that I thought showed the right position. What do you mean by "feel" and see? is there a different color. No idea what I'm looking for. I really don't like this system. Grr

When you are in a bad position, you hear some 'crrk' noises and feel resistance.
Maxing out sound effects helps.

The lock pick need to get smothely into the middle to pick the lock.
Try avoiding lock picks to break, by being more gentle in trying out, will get quite expensive over time.

Watch videos on youtube, they will help explain the 'missing piece of cake' shape you are dealing with.
