You will do better with saddlebags.
Yes. That gives you 5% speed in the world map.
Add the bonuses for Endurance Training (5%) and Long Distance Running (10% Roads Only) and you'll get 20% since these do stack.
Additionally, being able to Run and Endurance Run will speed up in short bursts. Plus if you get the Apple Pancakes these reduce your rests so indirectly speed up your travel.
A good reference can be found Here .
I might be able to make the Cortia - Marhiem trade run in under one day now. It is almost exactly one day. I've come so close crawling and haven't made it yet. Makes like 250 gold each way. Not a lot just my little challenge.
Let us know if you succeed, we are rooting for you!
It's more efficient I think, to have carrying capacity and haul bigger. Tried it with the horseshoes vs the bags.
Each saddlebag equipped holds 10 pounds, or 2 units of trade goods. So 4-5 ponies can take more than the entire output of a city easily considering that they can tote another 30-40 pounds.
I buy and stash the goods, till there's enough to fill the ponies up. But only run the route if there's an additional trade or Informant mission we can cash in too. So each trip nets a much bigger profit, easily more than the food/camping costs. We often hold 30 units of goods, or 150 pounds worth. That's 3 fills from the market but only one camping session.
You can also install bags on wolves and boars. They are helpful, but ponies are better.
And use the Gambesons of Carrying on your men for extra poundage if needed.
You can also generate additional Krowns by taking the messenger missions between towns.
...See what I did there? :D
