Choosing Sides - county of Arthes(spoiler)

I've no idea what I'm supposed to be doing.

I've been carting Abbot Theocene about for ages, and I don't know why. I guess I did read something before he joined, but I can't remember what. On the Map screen, it just says:

Follow mission instructions to complete this quest.

Where are those instructions?

Oh, and since the Ancient Ruins - I've now got Aurane. Can I just dismiss her, if I don't want to recruit her?

The abbot first asks you to help a farmers village, if you already done that the abbot will ask you to escort him to an unstable bridge. If both of those have been done he will just ask you for an escort back to the monastery.

As for Aurane she will stop following you once you exit the ruins, if she doesn't just re-enter and she will say that she needs to find her friends and leave.

Thanks. I don't see anything shown on the map, regarding a village or a bridge. I've completed the ancient ruins but still got Aurane. I tried to get Cortia, for Armour repairs, but got caught by wolves trying to get back down the rocks. She was still with me being a nuisance.

I get a message at the Lectern. Inactive, missing resources.

Piece together antiquities found in the Tomb of The Ancients during rest.

Does that mean I missed something?

If you have bits of stuff taken from the Tomb, you have to load it into the lectern, like meat in the drying rack. If you have none of that, then yep. Missed something.

In any case, you need to return and pop your head in just to get rid of that camp follower. Might as well make some torches for the trip.

In the Southern area there's a windmill structure, representing the village.
There's also a teepee or triangle over a nearby river- an "unstable bridge".

Take the Abbott to the Village, then the bridge.

I took her back inside the Tomb and she did leave.

I made a load of torches the second time, and put them in off hand of rangers and brutes and axe man instead of shields.

Nice nod to Lord of The Rings with bucket. I don't know if you can avoid the third fight or not.
