I actually bought a physical copy of SimCity 2000, but can not even begin to install it

I have the Special Edition. The main screen pops up asking you to Install, Reinstall and use the Urban Renewal Kit. But installing does not actually begin when clicking on it. I can go into the Urban Renewal Kit part of the program, but not the actual game itself. I have a relatively newish computer running Windows 10. I understand if the game did not work after it was installed, but I can not even get that far into the process.

Quite possibly. There were a few I tried with The Sims for sure and nothing worked. I think I got disappointed and deterred from further attempts for all the games. But I will take a look at it, thank you!

Late answer but:
What i did is to set up a fix System with Dosbox.

My Config File has these Parameters:

mount A D:\DOS\DOSBOX\disk -t floppy
mount C D:\DOS\DOSBOX\HARD
mount H F:\ -t cdrom


C:
cls

Than i did install Windows 3.1 on it and there i just did install the Windows Version of Simcity 2000.
H or in real F: is a Real DVD Drive, so i could install it directly from CD.

There are S3 Video Drivers out there, with it you can put up the Resolution in Win3.1 up to 1024x768.
