*spoiler sheriff quest

I am stuck gathering evidence against the sheriff. can'T complete the evidence bar - clicked the sword, carpet, wine, gold. I guess I need a key for one of the chest but no idea how to get it... tried bringing different trinkets to see if I can pry it open but to no avail...
anyone has a hint?

theres a niche in the wall above alcohol and the right wooden crate — you can find the key there

So, if you mouse over the this niche in the wall it shows a unique icon? This is driving me crazy looking for it.
