Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific U-Boat Missions

Silent Hunter: Wolves of the Pacific U-Boat Missions

U-boat missions won't run
i bought silent hunter 4 and the u-boat missions expansion pack.
however after only a day playing it the u-boat expansion pack won't run all it does is take me to the pre expansion main menu, the 2 savegames i have (one u-boat patrol i started and 1945 yamato scenario) don't open and opening the museum crashes the game. is this isolated or has anyone else had the same problem?

Try this, un-install both and all infomation for both and any save files with it. Then re-install SH4 itself first, then when that is done go start it up, get into the game, get out. Then the U-boat mission add-on after. I did it this way and have no problems. It could also be the way the file was down loaded by steam. For example I can't run any station in SH3. When I jump into a station, I can hear the U-boat steam away.. even tho I am in a station, all I hear is ocean and can't do anything else. had to do a re-install for that..

No problem. always remember The SH4 should always be idea to go in first, because the U-boat mission came after and it is binded to original SH4's data files.

Don't bother with the U-boat missions! This is boring. More planes than boats and always the same few merchant boats only. After 3 or 4 missions, the game becomes a micromanagement of plane avoidance. This is just stupidly boring. Mission 5: after 10 days at sea, i didn't encounter a single enemy boat but I encountered near a hundred planes. In all missions, I did not encounter any interesting task force, only a few destroyers a couple of times and they are impossible to sink.

that's one of the challenges with being a u-boat captain.
unlike the american subs the monsun gruppe u-boats had no air superiority to assist them.
there are warships to sink i found three dido-class cruisers in capetown (i sunk one with great difficulty as i missed with my first shots and had to reload all while avoiding the destroyers guarding the port!) i am on my fourth patrol and will be attacking pearl harbour (must be something big in there as there's a lot of destroyers prowling around the entrance!)
the best point of u-boat mssions is sneaking into the harbours and launching surprise attacks on morred ships (on my second patrol i did a surface action where i ran into a harbour on the surface sunk a fishing fleet with the deck gun and salied off before they could react!).
however u-boat missions does sort of depend on what floats your boat so to speak.
if anyone is struggling i reccomend getting a copy of The U-Boat Commanders Handbook and the osprey book U-Boat Tactics In World War II i have both books on the desk next to my pc whenever i sail out on a patrol and they have helped me greatly
