As an afterthought, this is probably WHY we don't get more SG games. Because people are gonna complain about the clothing the character models are wearing and the lack of a starter weapon in what's essentially a tutorial...
i liked SGU and would have liked a game that used that same kind of format of mission structure, but not in this 2d side scroller kind of style game.
i would have accepted a 1st or 3rd person action RPG shooter w, open galaxy sandbox kind of gameplay where you have multiple choices in which side you want to play as for the sg1 and sga games, for SGU i was thinking it was more of a survival game, hopefully story rich, less back stabbing and less drama like SGU was filled with, these were the only parts i hated in SGU, but i sensed real promise from that show and it's background story, and in many ways it was still very much like SG1 and sga in format, where they have their base of operations, but everything was more about survival over the previous shows as they were traveling on an very ancient ship very far away from home that was on it's last legs doing it's 50 million year mission collecting data and uncovering the mystery behind the secrets of the universe.
i would have loved to see where that story lead, i personally thought it was hinting towards the idea of a species of beings who were responsible for being galaxy creators instead of relying on the theory of the big bang as there was an intelligence behind the creation instead of something just forming by chance.
at least that's where i thought the story was headed based on the shows very limited runtime.
as i said the show had a lot of promise on the story going on behind the scenes, the ship was not only old as hell, but it was also automated and there were signs that it originally was sent with lots of worker drone robots all keeping the ship in good repair, until it got attacked to many times and some robots were either left behind or destroyed in the process of regaining resources to the point where the ship couldn't really take care of itself anymore until it was boarded by some humans which it could use to keep on it's mission, i loved everything about that ship, the design was very interesting i loved the way it traveled the stars, sure it was much slower than other ships much newer but it was still very robust and capable, i liked that it extracted energy from stars to refuel itself which allowed the powering of the ships systems including guns shields and general power across the ship, i even liked how the shields were used on this ship was quite intelligently power reserving capability's where it would focus on more problem based areas where it would attempt to close the gaps in the hull where there might be holes and then close off these areas until they were repaired even down to closing off these areas of the ship via the doors to the room.
i loved that the ship was built to live in, it had it's own green house area dome to cultivate plants and animals, now they didn't really do anything with animals in the show, but it was still a good little detail to see on the ship and it sucks they didn't really get to explore the rest of the ship, but the ship kept these other areas locked out likely for various reasons, like the lack of some of these areas being pumped with fresh air to possible damaged areas that needed to be fixed in order to open up, part of me thinks these areas were locked up also because of population control to reserve on resources in a localized area, or maybe the main chambers was just the most robust and intact from the dangers of the rest of the ship.
in many ways the ship was better to handle living in over Atlantis while in space, Atlantis required so much power to run in space that it was far more worthwhile to keep the ship on a planet than in space, but Atlantis was still another great city ship none the less, and just like the Destiny, they only were able to see a small portion of the city's structure from within as there were just to many things to uncover, i think by the size of the destiny, it was about as small as one of the wings of Atlantis, which admittedly is probably the same amount the Atlantis expedition explored of Atlantis lol.
the studios went bankrupt, not due to stargate though, that had more to do with some bad investments they made prior and lost big on them and they had to shut down because suddenly they couldn't afford to run anything, i guess the CEO gambled his house away or something lol, idk for sure, it's just said they made some bad investments along the way.
but i do agree with you, the show had a rough start and it was getting better in season 2, it just took so long for that part of the script to get to that point, unfortunately it didn't matter that much because the show wasn't doing that well to keep it on air and the bankruptcy issues screwed them in this process, if there was no bankruptcy issues during this time, i'm willing to bet the show would have gotten much better and people would have appreciated it a bit more, however there were some other things in the show that didn't help it all that much, this was back when they did that stupid shaky camera positioning style of filming, and they kind of made the show a little too much like battlestar galactical reboot, even some of the writing was similar, i hate when everyone in the industry follows the trends and mirrors them in their creation.
eventually you just get a lot of shaky camera shows lol.
My problem with SGU was it focused too much on the personal drama. I mean when It opened with that one guy cheating on his fiance that was bad enough, but when it hyper focused on lou diamond phillips trying to sleep with whats his names wife i checked out.
SG1 and SGA had a good balance between sci fi and personal stories. SGU just felt like desperate housewives with the stargate as a side attraction in the background.
They didn't have much to work with at the beginning beside the interpersonal relations. The group was trapped in ancient ship they couldn't control, so realistically the only focus was on people themselves and since it was a group of wrong people in wrong place, all kinds of disasters and drama was bound to happen, but then again if the show wasn't killed prematurely it would eventually evolve into your typical Stargate and maybe even much more, because they were already far from home in a very distant part of the universe meeting races and events like never before. Remember the episodes where events that looked like miracles happened? Those were never explained. Sure, it could be some highly advanced race behind them, but they never had a chance to explore them further, we were only seeing hints of what the show could have been if it had a chance to evolve further.
i agree they went a little too far with the show, admittedly one of the writers i think it was brad wright who said, that he was sick of making the show wrap up like a cartoon where everything was resolved as he really wanted to make more serious scifi kinds of shows, but the issue is the brand was already established with the previous fans and then the program was also being payed to pass off agendas in what is referred today as "woke" these days, which basically means the were bribed to tell some stories with a slant for modern audiences, i hate when they do this in shows as it always comes off as forced politics down the shows story and it ends up pissing off fans more than anything.
what's funny about this is brad wright years and years prior in i think their season 6 of stargate they made fun of other shows for doing the same things he ended up putting in his SGU show, if you remember this little clip.

so you would have thought that brad would have never put that kind of trash in his shows, but it turns out he did and then some, the whole lesbian relationship thing and then the guy cheating on his wife or girlfriend with the communication stones, like i get these were questions to explore, but they really didn't need to offer them as a result, nowadays the industry pushes out so much of this kind of crap that it ends up turning lots of people off of shows because it's infested in every media out there, i think they just need to dial it back with the propaganda or the forced politics of the modern audiences, because they just end up pissing off their original fans for a very small group of people who won't like their show that much anyway.
yeah i had my theories on that in what was happening, and ultimately i believe it was related to ascension of a being far older than the Ori and the ascended Alteran, as these beings were described as the solar system builders in a matter of what information you could gather in the show.
my theory is that this being wasn't very good at it's job, perhaps it was new to the job in building worlds and solar systems lol, and it couldn't offer what people needed as it's planet solar system failed, but it tried to offer a goodbye for the people onboard the destiny, however i can't really explain the TJ being pregnant thing and her miracle baby situation and her dream that may have not been a dream and the sign in the stars she saw.
but my guess is these same beings were involved with the creation of all galaxy solar systems since the beginning of time and the only people who can reach this cosmic power are those who are enlightened enough and have ascended which the Alteran whom were ascended were on that path, but have yet to reach it.
basically this cosmic background radiation left behind was what these beings left behind in their creation and it lead on a trail or a path that was collected as data via the destiny and was slowly but surely related to the research of the Alterans in their later generations when they became the Atlanteans, the destiny was probably relaying all this information back into their data bases within the milky way galaxy.
anyway this is all speculation theory on my part from what i got from the series as a whole.
Less to do with catering to audiences, just out right Social engineering they do with everything, kinda like how back in the day engineering identity instead of having existing African Accents/Cultural nod had a 'Acting black' trope, depicted as the Alpha tough masculine Mr T. guy, FF8 Barrett, deep voiced, that then transmuted to the over the top thug like trope being larped by people today. In the 90's there shifted to a new identity for the 21st century they call it there is a show ''the Magical Negroes'' based on this name.

This was seen in Movies like Morpheus & The Oracle in the Matrix made by the Wachowski Trans Siblings or recently Will Smith as in the Genie of Disney new Aladdin rendition, it's all character creation acting, which has been played obviously add race mixing tropes etc. Hey maybe Miles Morales will get with MJ in the next Spider-man 3 game
at the end of the day it just keeps getting dumber and dumber lol.
but it really makes sense in why so many of these shows and movies are failing right now or being rejected by people, and the ideas are even effecting games more and more, some do alright so long as they make a good enough game with features that please enough people demographically, but sometimes that's not enough, it's almost like too much pandering is a bad idea, i say that in jest, because it is like that in reality and we see it every day in the entertainment industry of people largely rejecting this stuff on mass.
you would think they would stop trying to hammer their message knowing this factor because after all the definition of insanity "doing the same things over and over again, while expecting a different result", but no they double down on it and then they either go bankrupt or they do it again and then go bankrupt and then they always blame everyone else for their failure and never themselves for their own dumbass ideas.

Here is Comedy Central (MTV) admitting their own long trope are now sunsetting...
They love pointing the blame when it was MTV & Hollywood from the start. And awarding Biden.
Yoda wasn't black as he claims.. but Master Mace Windu (Samuel L Jackson) is a Magical Jedi whom was right about the old white man Palpatine being evil after all before eventually being betrayed by Anakin.
It's zealotry. they'll be casted aside, the Matrix foretold that the Engineers have chosen the Red pill, Halfy Tates, Technology, AI, Elon, Neuralink, is the new Century.
Their 'sun setting' has already begun.
it's funny when you bring up Elon, because he started out with that crowed and in some ways he's still very idealistic on his ideas and some of his ideas are equally as ♥♥♥♥ ideas and aren't really working very well in the real world.
i think he's a funny guy and sometimes i agree with him on important issues, but he will sometimes support some of the dumbest things that have proven with time to be dumb ideas and for someone who's described as a self thinking genius, he's kind of dumb sometimes with the ideas he comes up with.
the whole EV market is falling down right now and i don't expect that to go back up any time soon so long as he keeps trying to support batteries that suffer when it's either too hot or too cold, sure you could save some money somewhat, but overall you end up paying out the ass more than you save in the long run.
like something like this you would have thought that maybe he would have thought through before ever trying the idea in the first place.
maybe his nuralink will be something amazing we just don't know yet, but right now it's a somewhat noble goal with some of the things that are talked about of what it will be used for, but i could easily see how it could be used for Evil in the future as well, that's why i look at it from the perspective of "we will see".
but i get the red pill matrix reference even though the guys who came up with that standard of thinking don't follow that same logic in reality of their own personal lives lol.
oh lol, we are getting way off topic in this comment section lol, but i highly doubt anyone will do anything about it because this game will be dead on arrival anyway.
